帰国して2年　お祝いしました

昨日で2年が経ちました。

5年間シンガポールに住み、帰国したのが2021年8月8日。

小6、小1の娘2人と「この2年、おつかれさまでした！シンガポール、本当に楽しかったね」とパーティを開催。

私たちにとって、忘れられない5年間でした。

8月9日はシンガポールの独立記念日「ナショナルデー」です。

58年前、マレーシアから分離され・やむなく独立した日。

1965年8月9日 リークアンユー氏による涙の独立記者会見は、いつ見ても感動します。

一部、抜粋します。

There is nothing to be worried about.
Many things will go on just as usual.
But be firm, be calm.
We are going to have a multi-racial nation in Singapore.
We will set the example.
This is not a Malay nation.
This is not a Chinese nation.
This is not an Indian nation.
Everybody will have his place.
Equal.
Language, culture, religion.
And finally, let us really Singaporean.
We unite, regardless of race, language, religion, culture.

たった５年間しか住んでいませんが、娘たちも私もシンガポールが自分の居場所だと感じるくらい好きになりました。

シンガポーリアンは、日本人である私たちにも平等に、むしろとても親切に接してくれました。日本軍によるシンガポール占領の歴史があるにもかかわらず、です。

シンガポール誕生58周年、おめでとうございます！！
