航空機の仕組みを口述する：ドアが開かない!!

航空機のドアは一般に搭乗用、貨物用、それに非常用に大別されます。けれどもドアの構造は、機体が与圧されているか否かでデザインや堅牢度合いが異なります。実技試験前の口述試験で、搭乗する小型機のドアの仕組みについて、概要を問われることがありますから、理解しておきましょう。

機体が与圧されていない小型機の乗降ドアは、カローラの前席ドアのように後方へ開閉するものが主流ですが、フェラーリのドアのようにガルウイング式に上下に開閉するデザインのものもあります。貨物室のドアも同様です。

Small aircraft whose fuselage is not pressurized usually have rear-hinged doors like those of a Toyota Corolla, but there are also designs with gull-wing doors that open and close upwards and downwards, like the doors of a Ferrari. The same is true for cargo doors.

後方へ開閉する乗降用ドアは足元が狭いため、主翼の上から乗り降りする機体では、両腕で体を支えないと乗降しにくいものです。高翼の下で乗り降りするタイプでは、メインギアをステップにして乗降するので、特に降りる時にステップを踏み外さないよう注意する必要があります。

Passengers using aircraft with rear-opening doors for boarding and disembarking have difficulty entering and exiting unless they support their bodies with their arms due to the limited space at their feet. When disembarking with aircraft that have landing gears located under high wings with a step on the main gear, one must be careful to not step outside of the step.

上下に開閉するデザインのガルウイング式ドアは主翼の上に乗降しやすいが、ドアを閉める際に大きく腕を上方へ延ばさねばなりません。また強風が吹いている時にはドアが突然バタンと落ちて閉まる恐れがあるので、手指を挟まぬよう気をつけねばなりません。

The design of the gull-wing type door that opens and closes vertically is convenient for getting on and off the fuselage, but when closing the door you must reach your arm up high. Also, if there is a strong wind, there is a risk that the door might suddenly slam shut, so be careful not to have your fingers caught in the doorway.

一見ドアが閉まっているように見えても、しっかりロックされていない場合があります。これは大変危険なことで、上空で乱気流に遭遇した時などに、突然ドアが開く恐れがあります。シートベルトを締めていれば落下することはないでしょうが、搭載していた物品が機外へ吸い出されて、フラップや水平尾翼を破損する危険性があります。離陸前チェックでドアロックを必ず確認すべきです。

Although it may appear that the door is closed, there are times when it is not properly locked. This is very dangerous as the door could open suddenly if an airplane encounters turbulence in the sky. Although the passengers can avoid falling out if they have their seatbelts on, items installed on the door could be sucked out and endanger the flaps and horizontal stabilizers. Before takeoff, it is essential to check that the door is firmly locked.
