About Gift Boxes and Cardboard

After launching "Craft Beer Paper" in June 2021, we received many requests for thicker paper and cardboard boxes for shipping from breweries and companies that use the paper, which led to the development of a new paper quality.

We were able to produce card paper that is thicker and stronger than conventional craft beer paper.
This made it possible to process paper products that can be utilized as gift boxes and shipping cardboard.

The gift box was previously used by NUMBER NINE BREWERY in Minatomirai, Yokohama for return shipping in their crowdfunding campaign.

・Specifications of the gift box developed ahead of time

This gift box with divider holds 6 cans of beer with handles. By changing the way the handle is folded, the box can also be used as a delivery box.

We are also in the process of sequentially manufacturing and developing other products to meet customer needs, such as hand boxes that can be used to display and sell cans and bottles with their labels visible in stores, and cardboard boxes for deliveries that can hold 24 cans.

About Craft Beer Card

The "Craft Beer Card" used for the Craft Beer Box is FSC certified.
The kraft paper into which malt lees are mixed is also made from environmentally friendly materials, utilizing used and recycled paper.
We were able to produce a card paper that is thicker and stronger than conventional craft beer paper.
The result is a glossy, high-quality kraft paper with a hint of malt lees in the coloring.

For this production, we are reusing approximately 100 kg of malt lees from NUMBER NINE BREWERY, which has been using our craft beer paper since the beginning of its sales.
※Basis weight is 310g, paper thickness is approx. 0.43mm

This project has been adopted by Yokohama City SDGs biz support project.

Future Prospects

The timing for additional production of craft beer cards to be used in gift boxes is also being finalized.
We plan to recycle more malt lees (approximately 500-700 kg) than in the past.
Considering the quality assurance in the process of transporting malt lees to the factory and the environmental cost of transportation, we are aiming to achieve dehydration and drying.

・We aim to create a "cycle in which discarded malt lees are reborn as valuable products" and create products that can be used by as many people as possible.
