『不思議の国のアリス』海亀のスープ

『不思議の国のアリス』第10章の終わりでMock Turtleがアリスに歌う'Turtle Soup'の歌についての仮説です。

Who for such dainties would not stoop?
Soup of the evening, beautiful Soup!

（game：狩りの獲物の鳥獣、またその肉）

第2連3･4行目の「p/ennyworth」を「pea any worth」、9行目の「beautiーFUL SOUP」を「bean（もしくはbeanly）ーfull soup」と読み替えると、fishやgameどころか動物性タンパク質の無い豆だけのスープということに。
「動物のスープの偽物」だったわけです。

Mock Turtleは海亀に似て海亀ならざる物、つまり陸亀という本文の内容とも合っているのではないでしょうか。

もしかするとgreenもGreekと掛けてあるのかもしれませんね。
