その1 【エネルギー】って…？

　ゲームやマンガ、アニメ、SF小説などフィクションの世界では【エネルギー】という単語は最早ありふれたモノではあります。もちろん現実の科学技術の中でも物理学で定義されているモノなので、既にそちらを学んでいる方なら理解しているし、説明できる方もいるのではないでしょうか。

　では、小学生に「エネルギーってのはね…」と説明しようとした時には、どのように説明すれば理解が進むのか…と少し悩みました。ふと、ドラゴンクエストのようなRPGゲームで出てくる【MP(マジックポイント、マジックパワー)】の概念が近いのでは？と思い至りました。

　ゲームでは、魔法使いなどが【MP】を用いて魔法を使用します。魔法によって火や風、氷、雷などなど、様々な【物理現象】を起こしている…とも言えます。少し難しい表現に言い換えれば『【MP】を【物理現象】に変換している』とも。

現実の話に戻すと、人間は【MP】を持っていませんが、例えば団扇で仰ぐことで風を起こす、両手を擦り合わせて熱を発生させるなどはできます。そこではやはり【何か】を【物理現象】に変換しているのです。

　この【何か】が【エネルギー】なんですね。上の話で言えば「人間は【運動エネルギー】を風や熱に変換している」となります。

『エネルギーとは、MPのようなもの』

今日はコレだけ覚えてもらえたら良いと思います。

Vol. 1　What is "Energy" …?

In fantasy worlds (games, anime, science fiction novels, etc.), the term "energy" is often used. Of course, in science and technology (physics), the term "energy" is clearly defined. Therefore, People of study the Physics are understood and could be explained.

So, How do we teach elementary and high school students the following? I was a little distressed. It occurred to me that "Energy" is similar to "MP (Magic Power) " in fantasy games.

In fantasy games, wizards use  the  "Ｍagic" by consuming "MP". In fantasy games, wizards use magic by consuming "MP". Magic creates physical phenomena such as fire, wind, ice, and lightning. In other words, it can be said that "MP" is converted into a physical phenomenon.

In the real world, human do not have "MP". However, for example move your hand to create the wind, rub your hands together to create the heat. There, "something" can be said to be transformed into a physical phenomenon.

That "something" is "energy".

In the previous discussion, humans convert "kinetic energy" into wind and heat.

Conclusion :  "Energy" is like "MP" in fantasy games.
