Why is difficult to get a job at a Japanese company from overseas ?

 Have  you ever thought many Japanese companies do not accept applications from overseas ?

I work at a Japanese startup company, and our company does not accept applications from people living overseas even if they are Japanese..

What are they so concerned about ?

  1. Security issues

Most companies are required to have a high level of security.
Some companies have obtained certifications such as Privacy Mark ( P mark), ISMS(Information Security Management System).
Individual information is gathering More and more attentions now.
Companies need certain security inspections to gain the trust of  stakeholders.
When employees work from overseas, a certain level of security is required.
The person in charge of security might avoid such situations because it could get then into trouble.

2.Responsibility to Employees

some companies fear that their employees will get into trouble.
In Japan, Rosai (workers' compensation, labor insurance) provides great protect for employees.
when they injured on the job, they will get insurance both medical expenses and compensation for lost work.
However, the procedure is complicated. if workers receive treatment at an  overseas hospital, many documents are  attached, which makes  the person undergoing the procedure reluctant.

From now

In spite of the above situations, some workers hope work remotely from abroad especially after the pandemic.
As a result,  some companies are starting to allow employees to  work from where they hope.
those companies will also start hiring foreigner.
