Māui & Poliʻahu

次は、マウイとポイアフの伝説について。

Māui

Maui likes trick.
He had a magic fishhook, named “Manaiakalani”.
He reeled in the islands of Hawaii from the bottom of the sea, by this fishhook.

Maui caught the sun, too. He thought sun moved too fast and he made the day longer.
And Maui lifted the sky with his father because the sky was too low.


Poliʻahu

Poliʻahu is the goddess of snow. She lives in Mt.Mauna Kea.
She fight against Pele and always win.

One day Poliʻahu enjoyed sled with people. Pele joined them.
Poliʻahu fight with Pele by sled.

Pele used lava but Poliʻahu opposed her by snow.
Snow frozen lava.

Now, Pele control the southern half of Hawaii island.
Poliʻahu dominate the northern half of island.
