#142 ランチミーティングが怖い (How does "Lunch meeting" work?)

シンガポールのお昼ごはんはホーカーに始まりホーカーで終わると言っても過言ではない（過言）。シンガポール人に聞くと、ホーカーセンターというのは、エアコンのないフードコートと言われることが多い。なんというか、席はたくさんのお店でシェアする方式で、400-1000円くらいでそれはそれはたくさんの種類の料理が食べられます。日本人の感覚でいうと牛丼屋さんの値段で様々なアジア料理が食べられる感じ。とは言っても毎日行っていると行きつけというか、レパートリーができて毎週同じものを食べている気もする。

日本の会社に比べれば比較的自由に雑談する雰囲気の我が社（弊社？）でもランチ時間は仕事を一緒にしないメンバーと話したり、お昼を買いに行く時間を楽しんだりと「仕事以外の時間」を仕事メンバーと楽しむ時間として重宝してます。ただ日本に行くとたまに、、、「ランチミーティング」というなんというか力強い雰囲気を持ったものに誘われる？呼ばれる？ことがあります。

「ランチミーティング」ってなんか強いですよね。。。うちの会社ではミーティングだけどランチ食べながらでていいよ。みたいな感じで使われているような気がしますが、みなさんどんな感じでしょうか？そう、そして僕はなんとなくアンチ「ランチミーティング」なので、それに都合の良さそうなデータを探してみました（笑）株式会社ライズ・スクウェアのランチミーティングに関する意識調査によると、、、苦手としている人が約68%。うふっ（思うツボ）。まあ嫌いな理由（右のグラフ）の中にはそもそも人とランチが食べなくない人も入ってそうな感じもします。

個人的にはランチ時間も働けって言われているような、ちょっと脅迫的な感じもあって苦手にしています。今日は早く帰りたい！っていうときにはちょうどいいかもですが。さて、コロナになって在宅が増えた弊社日本オフィスではいまやランチミーティングというのは死語になっているのだろうか？それともオンラインでも食べながらミーティングしているのだろうか。ちょっと気になる。

I personally think lunch in Singapore is all about hawker center (Maybe exaggerated). Some Singaporean define hawker center as food court without air conditioner… Basically it has tables shared by all stalls which serves variety of food all over Asia. To make it easy for Japanese to understand, there are variety of Asian food with Yoshinoya price. Well once you get used to it you actually tend to go to the same place every week though…

While my Singapore office encourage people to have chit chat in working hour, still lunch time is kind of special. We enjoy talking with people who we don't work together and enjoy walking together to buy lunch.
When I go to Japan office, I sometimes hear a word "Lunch meeting" which has some "strong" power to scare me. People sometimes invite me to join "lunch meeting".

What impression do you feel from the word "lunch meeting". How do you use it. In our Japan office, it is used for … meeting which you can bring your lunch. So its basically a normal meeting. Ummm. I personally don't feel comfortable with the word. So I tried to look for data so support my opinion Lol. This is how data works… Rise Square (2022) show 68% of people don't like lunch meeting. Yes! Got my point. Hahahaha. Well the right chart shows the reasons why people don't like it but it seem there are people who just don't like to have lunch with others…

When people invite me to lunch meeting, I feel like people tell me to work even during lunch time… So I don't like it. (of course, people don't have the evil intention.) By the way, recently people work from remote in our Japan office. I'm wondering how "Lunch meeting" works now. Does it disappear? Or people do online meeting with eating lunch?
