#65 東京は寒いらしい (It seems its cold in Tokyo)

絶賛日本行きのパッキングをしているのですが、ここ数年コロナでシンガポールから出られなかったため、「冬」の情景とか寒さとかが記憶から抜け落ちていて、忘れ物をしているような気がしてたまらない。いや多分している。あー、またこうやってシンガポールでは絶対に使わないものが増えていくのです。日本の冬行くたびに買ってしまい、シンガポールに複数あるものの例としては、、、手袋、ジョギング用のウィンドブレーカー、ダウンジャケット（忘れて半袖で日本の冬に降り立ったことがある）。

さて日本はまた雪がすごい？東京でも降るかもということなのでしょうか。とりあえず今現在ダウンジャケットはスーツケースの上に載ってはいるが、ここで油断してはいけない。持っていくのに入り口の横に置いておいたものを、忘れてでかけるというのはよくあることなのです（僕には）。先日雪マウントという記事（こちら）を書きましたが、そもそも東京って１年に何日くらい雪が降るんでしょうね？

上記のグラフは気象庁のデータ(2022)を元に東京で毎年どのくらいの日数雪が降っているのかを数えたグラフになります。２日間のところに赤い線をなんとなく引いてみました。なんか面白いですね1970年代中盤くらいまではほぼ毎年雪が降っていた感じですが、全くまばらというか降っていない期間もあり。直近１０年では降っている日のほうが多いですが、直近５年では降ったのは１日だけなんですね。

なんか、、、こんなもんだったかしら？まあ、１０年日本には住居を構えていないので記憶は危ういですが、小さい頃には毎年雪が降って、雪なのに半ズボンで通学するおかしな小学生だった記憶があります（僕が）。やっぱりこれだけ見ると基本東京はあまり雪はふらないので、多少バタバタするのは許してほしい、、、という感じですね。2000年以来殆どの年は０日か２日以下なので。

２年に二日間というと、紅白歌合戦よりは多いけど、箱根駅伝と同じ日数。くらいのレア度。いや、分かりにくいですね。そして一年だけ（1984年）飛び抜けて日数の多い年がありますね（19日間）。何があったんだろう。。。今それだけ降った災害クラスですね。

I'm currently packing cloths I bring to Japan. Since I couldn't go out from warm Singapore, I almost forgot how winter look like and how cold it is. So I really feel that I forget something important to bring. No I actually forgot something. That is the reason why I have some winter stuff more than necessary. I always forget to bring something and buy it in Japan which I seldom use in Singapore. For example, warm gloves, Windbreaker for Jogging, even down jacket (I have forgotten to bring it and landed to Tokyo with T-shirts in Winter, believe or not).

By the way I heard that it might snow again in Tokyo? I now see my down jacket is on my suit case to avoid leaving it at home. But I still have to be really careful. I often forget to bring things I prepare at the entrance (Stupid). Few days before, I wrote an article about "snow mounting" (here), I'm wondering how many days of snow we have in Tokyo?

I refer to data from Japan Meteorological Agency (2022) and made the chart above to see the snow days trend. Also I drew red line for 2 days to make it easy to compare year by year. It looks interesting. by mid 70th, it snowed every year while there is the period that there is no snow at all. For lates 10days snowy year is more that no snow year while there is only 1 snowy year in latest 5 years.

Ummm, is it like this? Of course, my memory is not trustful since I'm away from Japan for 10 years. But I have a memory that I was an elementary school student who strangely wear shorts in snowy days "every year" to go to school. Maybe my memory is over-written by dream. Having seen this, overall Tokyo has very less snow. So please all us to get a bit of confusion when it snows… Since 2000, most of years we had 0 days or less than 2 days in a year.

twice a year means… slightly more than Kohaku-utagassen (a traditional TV program on 31th Dec) or the same as Tokyo-Hakone round trip relay (also famous new year sports event for Japanese).
Also There is one year which has surprisingly many snow days (1984) which is 19 days in a year. 19!! What happened in the year… I assume it will be the huge disaster if we have it now…
