There are a few spiritual/power spots on the premises, but Atsuta Shrine is mainly known to store one of three sacred treasures; the sword, Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi.
The other two are the mirror, called Yata-no-Kagami, which is stored at the Ise Grand Shrine (Mie Prefecture) and a jewel, called Yasakani-no-Magatama, which is stored in the Imperial Palace (Tokyo).
熱田神宮の大楠 | Atsuta Shrine’s Camphor tree
熱田神宮にある一番大きい『大楠』は弘法大師が自ら手植えしたと言い伝えられています。
This camphor tree was planted by Kobō Daishi probably roughly over a thousand years ago. There actually isn’t a specific date so noone is sure exactly when.
楠の根元・内部には数匹の白蛇が棲みついてる話しもあるみたいで、見かけた方は御利益ありそうです。
Also there are a few white snakes living inside the camphor tree. These snakes rarely come out, so if you’re lucky to spot one。
