筋骨隆々の金剛力士像仏画にチャレンジ Challenge the Buddhist painting of the muscular statue of Nio

仏画曼荼羅アート神戸教室の方から、前回の講座で新しい課題の希望があった。
「金剛力士像」を描いてみたい、と。
素晴らしい意気込みだが、仏画として描き切るのは難題である。
仏画は、掛け軸や障壁、天井などに描く画なので立体的な美的要素はさほど求められないが、金剛力士像は、見てのとおり立体的造形美が特徴。
羽織るものは簡素な法衣のみで上半身は裸体、そして装飾品もほとんどない。あるのは手に持っている、仏敵を退散させるための武器である金剛杵くらい。

From the Buddhist painting mandala art Kobe classroom, there was a hope for a new task in the previous lecture. She wanted me to draw a "Nio statue".
It's a great enthusiasm, but it's a difficult task to draw as a Buddhist painting. Buddhist paintings are drawn on hanging scrolls, barriers, ceilings, etc., so three-dimensional aesthetic elements are not required so much, but as you can see, the statue of Nio is characterized by three-dimensional modeling beauty. The only thing to wear is a simple robe, the upper body is naked, and there are few ornaments.
There is only a Vajra, which is a weapon in my hand to disperse enemies.

仏教の護法神である金剛力士像の魅力はなんと言っても、大きさと筋骨隆々の迫力。それに威嚇ポーズや忿怒の顔などが護法神の象徴である。その魅力に惹かれ、模写してみたいという探求心が湧いてくるのも、よ～くわかる。
通常の写仏のように線画で下地を作る作業に加え、筋骨の形やポーズ、忿怒の表情をいかに立体的に出せるかが最大のポイントになる。さらに限られた茶系色のみで濃淡で立体感を創り出すのは難しい。

The attraction of the statue of Nio, the Buddhist Dharmapala, is the size and power of the muscular bones. In addition, menacing poses and angry faces are symbols of the Dharmapala.
It's easy to see that I'm attracted to its charm and have a desire to copy it. In addition to the work of making a base with line art like a normal photo Buddha, the biggest point is how to make the shape and pose of the muscles and the expression of anger in three dimensions.
Furthermore, it is difficult to create a three-dimensional effect with shades using only a limited number of brown colors.

いままでにない仏画にチャレンジしようとする制作意欲を強く感じる。どこの教室も時間が要する作品は家で作業される。実に楽しまれているようだ。
この仏画曼荼羅アート講座は自身が楽しむ、チャレンジする、意欲を高揚させることが目的にスタートしたので、少しずつではあるが実を結びつつある。参加している方たちのおかげである。

I strongly feel the desire to create a Buddhist painting that has never been seen before. Works that take time in every classroom are worked at home. It seems to be really enjoyed.
This Buddhist painting mandala art course started with the purpose of enjoying, challenging, and motivating oneself, so it is gradually bearing fruit. Thanks to those who participated.
