「紙芝居」で、一筋の光明が見えた　 　In the "picture-story show", I saw a ray of light.

2月15日はお釈迦様の亡くなられた日で、多くの寺院で涅槃会（ねはんえ）の法要が行われている。ただ、この事態なので一般参拝は中止され山内のみで行われている寺院も多いが、宝塚にある平林寺の塔頭寺院である「成福院」では、13日に万全のコロナ対策を講じ、法要と音語りコンサートを行われた。

February 15th is the day when Buddha died, and many temples hold the parinirvana day memorial service. However, due to this situation, many temples are closed to general worship and are held only in related parties. A sound talk concert was held.

法要のあと、ご住職みずから参集者を前に「紙芝居」を披ろう。タイトルが「ねはん」。仏教法話の中でこのような趣向も実に興味深い。「涅槃」について理解が深まった。
いろんな題材があるようだが、紙芝居という視覚メディアを通し、難しそうに思える仏教法話を物語として伝えていくと好奇心あふれる子どもたちや我われ大人にも受け入れられるようだ。

After the memorial service, let's perform a "picture-story show" in front of the priests themselves. The title is "Nehan(Nirvana)". This kind of taste is really interesting in Buddhist Dharma Talk. I deepened my understanding of "Nirvana".
There seem to be various subjects, but it seems that curious children and our adults will accept it if we tell a story of Buddhist Dharma Talk that seems difficult through the visual media of picture-story show.

ある意味閉ざされた世界を、時代に合わせたいろんな手法や切り口で伝えることの大切さをご住職の “紙芝居” で実感。紙芝居や絵本といえば子ども向けのものと思われがちであるが、我われ大人にも書籍以外にもっと平易に学ぶことができれば身近な生活の一コマになっていく。まずは大人が耳を傾け、大人から子どもへと広がっていけば新しい時代の豊かな生活の、一筋の光明が見えてくるような気がした。

Through the “picture-story show” of the priest, I realized the importance of communicating the closed world in a way that suits the times with various methods and perspectives. Picture-story show and picture books are often thought of as children's books, but if we adults can learn more easily than books, it will become a part of our daily lives. First of all, I felt that if adults listen and spread from adults to children, we can see a ray of light in the rich life of the new era.
