「碧巌録提唱」の看板がある大通院 【京さんぽシリーズⅢ】 Daitsū-in with a sign of "Hekiganrokuteisho"
京都 相国寺の塔頭の一つに「大通院」という寺院がある。
その門柱に読めない漢字の木板看板が掛けられている。
片方の柱の看板には本派専門道場と書かれ、禅寺特有の修行道場だろうと想像はつく。
一方の柱の漢字は難解すぎて読み取れない。
There is a temple called "Daitsū-in" at one of the towers of Kyoto Shokoku-ji Temple.
An unreadable wooden board sign is hung on the gatepost.
The sign on one of the pillars says that it is a specialized dojo for the main school, and you can imagine that it is a training dojo peculiar to Zen temples.
The kanji on one pillar is too difficult to read.
たまたま通りかかったお坊さんに尋ねてみた。
「碧巌録提唱(へきがんろくていしょう)」ということだった。
調べてみると、碧巌録とは中国の仏教書であり、
禅宗の言行や説法などが筆録された文献とあった。
I asked the monk who happened to pass by.
It was "Hekiganrokuteisho". When I looked it up, Hekiganroku was a Chinese Buddhist book, There was a document in which Zen Buddhism's words and deeds and preaching were written.
大通院は、これらを専門に学ぶ道場ということになる。
だから門に相見謝絶という看板も目立つように掛けられていた。
Daitsū-in is a dojo that specializes in learning these things. That is why the signboard "Visit Abandonment" was hung on the gate prominently.
