2020年にリリースされた3rdアルバム「Love Goes」から、２ndシングルカット曲の「Diamonds」
韻を踏みながら螺旋状に回転していくような弾力性ある歌詞とそこに打ち込まれる４ビートのきらびやかなバランス、それをそのまま楽しめばいい、そんな曲だという気もします。

しかし、そんな音感覚とは裏腹に歌詞内容は、一方が一方を直線的に責めあげていきます（笑）。それを小気味よく感じるか、うーんと感じるか？

成功して有名になって富を手に入れても、それで幸せとは限らない。サム・スミス自身の実経験をベースにした曲だとも伝えられます。金銭トラブルとは無縁と思われた野球選手も巻き込まれてしまうDiamondsの魔力。あなたも私も誰も無関係だと言い切れない。"Diamonds"は複数形。そんな人間の心自体が怪しいDiamondsの光を放っているから、どんな直線的な気持も、螺旋を描きながらまた引き込まれまた離れていく。のかな？
