Lights for Hinokizaka / Ritz Carlton Tokyo
There are 12 main lights in this restaurant. If you look closely, you will find one that Toru intentionally left imperfect. At NIKKO TOSHOGU SHRINE there is a series of pillars called ‘Upside down pillar’. The carpenter who designed the pillars left one of them undone thinking that ‘By keeping this place imperfect, we can leave room for growth’. Toru designed the very modern lights for this special Sushi restaurant with the very same message. Because it is so subtle, you won’t notice at first but then once the chef tells you the story, your experience is finally complete.
