人間も怪獣も、広い世界に飛び立ってもいつかは故郷が恋しくなるのだ。これは怪獣ハクアドンを巡るそんな物語。
平磯町にある中生代白亜紀層で発見された翼竜の化石が、落雷のショックによって突如蘇生。現代の環境に適応して急速進化し、怪獣ハクアドンとなって大空へと飛び立った。小美玉市の航空自衛隊百里基地からF4ーEJ改戦闘機が出動するが、マッハ3.5の超音速飛行と縦横無尽の空中機動力を持つ怪獣に翻弄されてんてこ舞い。さらに怪獣の背中にはたまたま磯遊びに来ていた少年竜太くんが取り残されており、攻撃ができなくなってしまう。我が物顔でひたちなか市の大空を駆けるハクアドン。やがて人々の脳裏にある疑問が浮かぶ。せっかく飛べるのになぜひたちなか市から出て行かないのか？古生物学者平磯博士の分析によって怪獣には帰巣本能があることがわかり、自衛隊は平磯海岸に布陣する。怪獣は平磯海岸に帰巣して再び眠りに付き、竜太くんは無事に生還する。人々は人間にも怪獣にも愛される町ひたちなか市への想いをより一層強くするのであった。
十数年後、竜太くんは新進気鋭の古生物学者として故郷ひたちなか市に錦を飾るのだが、それはまた別のお話。

It is another story though Ryuta-kun decorates nishiki in the hometown Hitachinaka city as an up-and-coming paleontologist ten years later.
