Sherry Simon, Canadian translation scholar, pursued Gender in Translation.
The idea of identifying and critiquing forces/triggers that seek to relegate both women and translation to the bottom rung of the social and literary ladder is interesting.
Simon gives the example of a translation project that raises women's authority in defiance of forces that stereotype gender and the value of original and translated texts
The surfacing of the supposedly arbitrary, male-dominated setting of language may also be necessary to unravel the tacit understanding in language.
