Mona Baker is a professor of translation studies at the University of Manchester, UK, and studied in Cairo, Egypt.
She considers various aspects of pragmatic equivalence in translation.
She defined pragmatics as 'the study of language in use'.
The three major pragmatic concepts are coherence, presupposition and implicature.
