人について書く(Write about people)

私は人生の物語を聞くことが好きです。
特にその人の考え方や大切にしていることを知るのが好きです。
ここでは定期企画として、私が気になる方のお話を伺い、様々な考え方や価値観、ライフスタイル、暮らしを楽しくする小さなヒントをご紹介できたらと思います。

I like listening to people’s stories. 
Especially I like knowing their way of thinking and philosophy of life.
I would like to write here some people’s stories as a periodical journal. And I hope to introduce various ways of thinking, senses of values, lifestyle, and tiny tips to enjoy your life.

My first guest: 栗原いぶきさん(Ibuki Kurihara)

　第１回目のゲストは、私の大学時代からの友人である、栗原いぶきさん。
大学卒業後、ニュージーランドのナチュラルデイリーケアを扱う外資系企業に就職。現在は本国窓口・マーケティング担当として活躍されています。
　人にスポットライトを当てた記事を書いてみたいと思いついた時、一番初めに彼女の名前が頭に浮かびました。きっと私は、好きなものについて話す時の彼女の熱量や楽しそうな姿、興味のあることに触れてとことん知ろうとする行動力に、大学時代も今も、知らず知らずのうちにたくさん影響を受けているのだと思います。仕事やプライベートのお話の中から、彼女の考え方や価値観、ライフスタイルのルーツを探ってみたいと思います。

 My first guest is Ibuki Kurihara. She is my friend from the university. After her graduation from her university, she started to work for a New Zealand company dealing with natural daily products. Now she is charge of the contact person with the home company and marketing.
 When I came up with this program that I’ll write journals focusing on people, her name came to my mind first. Probably in my college days and now, I would have been influenced a lot by her energy and joy when she talks about her passion, and her action to her interests. I will explore her ways of thinking and values, as well as routes of the lifestyle from her story about her job and private time.

                

彼女のStoryを紐解く～キーワードはパリ〜(Unravel her story~Paris is a key~)

　彼女の今の楽しみは、部屋の模様替えをすること。YouTubeを見たり、美術館に足を運んだりすることで空間づくりのインスピレーションを得ている。ルージュやセザンヌのようなパリの家をイメージしているという。実際にパリを訪れたこともある彼女だが、パリは部屋づくりだけではなく、彼女の人生観や仕事にも大きく影響している。

 Recently, Ibuki is enjoying redecorating her room. She gets inspiration about it from YouTube and art museums. Parisian houses like Rouge and Sezane are her ideal. She has been to Paris and she is been greatly influenced by Paris not only with decoration of her room but also her view of life and job.

『フランス人は10着しか服を持たない～パリで学んだ“暮らしの質”を高める秘訣～』

　日本で大変なヒットとなった本作には、著者のジェニファー・Ｌ・スコットさんが大学時代のパリ留学を通して学んだ、人生をより豊かに楽しむためのTipsがたくさん紹介されている。タイトルを耳にしたことがある方や、読んだことがあるという方も多いのではないだろうか。好きなこと、心地いいこと、大切にしたいこと、自分の心が喜ぶことを知り、生活の中に取り入れる。そして一日一日を丁寧に生きる。私がこの本から受け取ったメッセージは、まさに私が彼女と接する中で受け取ったメッセージだ。
　彼女の仕事は、地球環境に配慮したサステナブルな商品を届け、そしてその商品や”何を使うか”という選択を通して、地球や社会に配慮したエシカルな暮らしの価値を広めること。
　高校生の時に担任の先生からもらった、フェアトレードのチョコレート。初めて聞いたフェアトレードという言葉や、私たちが日々使っているものの背景にある様々な問題。大きな衝撃とインスピレーションを得た彼女は、エシカルな生き方に興味を持つようになる。 
　彼女はインタビューの中で、「“一般的にいいもの“ではなく、“自分がいいと思うもの“を素直に選ぶ。」ことの大切さを話してくれた。現在の仕事を選んだのも、ブランドの考え方に共感し、商品を心から好きだと思えたから。仕事で悩むことがあっても、好きなことで、好きな人と働いているということが、原動力になっているという。彼女の仕事は単に商品を売るということではない。どんな商品を買うかという選択を通して、環境や社会問題への関心を広め、商品に込められた想いを伝えることだ。

“Lessons from Madame Chic: 20 Stylish Secrets I Learned While Living in Paris”

 This book, which was written by Jennifer L. Scott is a blockbuster in Japan. She introduces a lot of tips to enjoy your life and make it more rich from her experiences when she studied in Paris during her college years. Some readers might have heard of this title or have read this book. Know well what you like, what you feel comfortable, what you want to value, what makes you happy, and take them into your life.Then live each day to the fullest. The message that I received from this book is exactly what I learned from Ibuki.
 Her job is delivering sustainable products and value of ethical life considering the environmental and society through the products themselves and the choice “what you use”. 
 One day, a high school teacher gave her a fair trade chocolate. It was the first time to hear the word “fair trade” and to know various problems behind the items we use in our daily life. The experience impacted and inspired her greatly. It got her to have interest about ethical life.
 She told me how important it is to choose good things from your perspective, not from other people’s perspective. The reason why she chose the job is that she emphasized the thoughts and really liked the products of the brand. Even if she struggles with the job, the fact that she is working for things and with people that she likes makes her energetic. Her job is not just selling the products, but making people be interested in environmental and social problems and telling their wish through the choice what you use.

大切な時間(Her precious time)

　忙しい毎日の中でも、自分の時間を大切にすることを忘れない。彼女の自分へのご褒美は紅茶やコーヒーをゆっくりと飲むこと。ティータイムのお供は、インテリアのYoutubeと海外ドラマ、お気に入りのリアリティーショー『カーダシアン家のお騒がせライフ』。靴とカバンが大好きで、サービスや質にこだわりのあるハイブランドやオートクチュールのアイテムでテンションを上げる。洋服は古着やお手頃なものを。だけど靴やカバンといった自分の好きなものには、こだわりのあるアイテムを身につけるというスタイルが彼女らしい。
　今回お話を聞いて改めて、自分の時間を大切に、自分の価値観や心に素直に従って選択していく彼女の姿が輝いて見えた。「小さいことを楽しむ、自分に素直に生きる、人生を楽しむ」は、彼女が大切にしているTips。時には悩むことや休息が必要なことがあっても、このTipsがあればきっといつでも自分らしく楽しんでいられる。

 Ibuki doesn’t forget to have time for herself even when she is busy. A treat for herself is watching YouTube channels about interior design, TV dramas from abroad, and her favorite reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” over tea or coffee. She likes shoes and bags and especially loves the items from high fashion brands or haute couture offering good service and quality. They raise her spirits. Her style is mixed between trying to find used vintage clothing from thrift stores, to expensive accessories such as designer handbags and shoes.
 She makes lots of time for herself simply choosing what she wants to do each day and based on her sense of values and feelings. This time, I was impressed by her again. Her tips are: Appreciate the little things, Be honest with yourself, and Enjoy your life. Even if sometimes you worry about something or you need to have a rest, if you follow these tips, you could be who you are and enjoy your time.

好きな言葉(Her favorite words)

Carpe diem (カルペ・ディエム)
スペイン人の友人から教わった言葉。ラテン語   で「今日という日を摘め」つまり、「今を生きる」の意味。

She learned these words from her Spanish friend. These Latin words mean “Seize the day” in English. In other words, “Live in the moment”
