　THE RED POST IN ESTHER STREET

　

1. EXT. ON THE STREET

 Assistant Director 1:   So stop right here. Okay! Take!
 Assistant Director 2:   Take!
                         Staff:    Take!
    Camera Assistant:    It's rolling.
   Assistant Director:    Rolling.
                   Director:    Set, Action!

       Clapperboard clinks. There is nobody else on the street. 10 seconds later...

                   Little boy:    Mom~!

    Passersby one by one frame in,  go across the street, and frame out. It becomes sparse but the people increase little by little, then eventually it becomes busy. Miku Nakashima comes to run through the crowd. She stands up and makes a smile at somebody.

                          Miku:   Eiko!

    Miku runs away. Eiko goes to frame in and sees around here.

1A.   EXT.  AT THE TOWN

    Joe Mitsui, "Joe", Tokie Kuroki, "Kii",  Chihiro Taya put up a flyer "Kamen(The mask)" on the bulletin board near the shrine.

                        Joe:   Oh, free space right here.
                        Kii:   Okay!

1B.  EXT.  ON THE STREET

    Joe, Kii, and Taya are walking on the street.

                       Joe:    Next, do we put that on this bulletin board?
                        Kii:    Yeah, correct.

2. INT.  CAFE A

   Joe, Kii, and Taya go into the coffee shop.

                    Taya:   Hello, excuse me... 
                Master:   No problem, put that on the table.
                  Three:   Thank you very much.

  A lady, Eiko Onoda, is sitting on a chair.

                    Joe:   Sorry for interrupting you.
                              Please read this if you are interested in it.
                   Eiko:   What is it?
                    Joe:   We are now offering this audition.
                  Taya:   Please join us.
                  Eiko:   Oh, I know this director.
                   Joe:   Really?
                 Eiko:   Yes, I'm excited about it.
                   Kii:   Would you like to join this audition? We are sure that
                           it will be a wonderful film.
                 Joe:   Please.
                Eiko:   Well, I'll think about it.
                Taya:   Yes, that's the spirit. All right!

Yasuko Yabuki is on the table counter and sees the leaflet.

               Eiko:   It looks mysterious for me to see this title "KAMEN
                         ( The Mask)".
                Joe:   You see.
              Taya:   So, here is the leaflet.

Taya gives the leaflet to Yasuko.

             Taya:   You can feel better than before, so let's snap out of it.
         Yasuko:   All right, I will.
               Joe:   My pleasure!
             Eiko:   What! I will participate in this audition, too, Mr. Joe.
              Joe:   Of course.
          Three:   Welcome to our audition.
            Eiko:   You said.
             Joe:   We're pleased to wait for you to join us.
         Three:   Thank you very much.

  Eiko looks at the leaflet.

   Eiko

4. EXT.  ON THE STREET

   Eiko is walking on the street alone.

          Eiko:   It hardly ever takes an audition by only the amateur.
                     Whatever, I have to get the guts to join there.
                    "Go on!". Ah, am I Eiko? Well, let's do it!

 5. EXT.   SOMEWHERE

  Eiko shows Ami Izumi the leaflet.

         Ami:   This is cool. They have an open-minded attitude for us
                    without any experience.
         Eiko:   Here comes a big chance, isn't it? Don't tell Taeko and
                    Mitsuko about this. We will only take this main role.
         Ami:   What about "Kiko"?
        Eiko:   Not at all. Do you want any rivals?
        Ami:   As usual, you mean it. Then, I will tell Shin and Fukami about
                   the audition. They are men, so it will be fine, right?
        Eiko:   Umm... close? But the position will be us only.
        Ami:   Good.
        Eiko:   Promise.
        Ami:   Yes.
        Eiko:   Promise.
        Ami:   Promise?
       Eiko:   It's a big deal. Or if you tell them, we'll lose these musical
                  chairs.

　カチンコがなる。最初は誰もいない路上・・・１０秒後、

　小さな子供：　ママ～！

　左右に１人ずつ通行人がフレームインして交差し、フレームアウトする。まばらだがその数が少しずつ増えて、やがて賑やかになる。その群衆の中を走ってくる中島美久。美久、立ち止まり誰かを見つけて笑う。

　　　　美久：　瑛子さん！

　走り去る美久。瑛子、フレームインしてあたりを見渡す。

１A、街の中

　神社近くの掲示板に映画「仮面」のチラシを貼る三井丈（ジョー）、黒木トキ江（キー）、田屋ちひろ。

　　ジョー：　あ、ここ空いてますよ
　　　キー：　オッケー

１B、路上

　歩いているジョー、キー、田屋。

　　ジョー：　次、あそこじゃないですか。
　　　キー：　そうそう

２、喫茶店A

　ジョー、キー、田屋が入ってくる。

　　　田屋：　こんにちは～すいません、このチラシ置かせてもらってもい
　　　　　　　いですか？
　マスター：　あ、いいよ。そこ置いといて
　　　三人：　ありがとうございます。

　小野田瑛子という女の客が座っている。

　　ジョー：　すみません、これよかったら
　　　瑛子：　なんですの？
　　ジョー：　オーディションの募集です
　　　田屋：　あ、よろしくお願いします
　　　瑛子：　あ、この監督知ってますわ
　　ジョー：　マジっすか
　　　瑛子：　えー、そそるわー
　　　キー：　応募してみますか？きっといい映画になりますよ
　　ジョー：　ぜひ
　　　瑛子：　やろっかな
　　　田屋：　イェイ！その意気、その意気！

　カウンターに矢吹安子がいる。それを見ている。

　　　瑛子：　”仮面”って謎のタイトルですね
　　ジョー：　でしょ
　　　田屋：　はい、これ受け取って

安子にチラシを渡す田屋。

　　　田屋：　気分がパアッと晴れるからさ、気分転換に
　　　安子：　ならば受ける
　　ジョー：　よろしく！
　　　瑛子：　え！ならば絶対受けるって！
　　ジョー：　ぜひ
　　　三人：　よろしくお願いします
　　　瑛子：　絶対お願いします
　　ジョー：　待ってます、じゃあ次いきましょう
　　　三人：　ありがとうございました～

　チラシを見つめる瑛子。

　　瑛子

４、路上

　瑛子、一人で道を歩いている。

　　　瑛子：　素人だけ募集するオーディションなんかめったに無いし。こ
　　　　　　　こはエイッ！と勇気出すべきかなぁ・・・どうするわたし！
　　　　　　　え、瑛子って私？え、わたし？そりゃ、やるでしょ！

５、どこか

　泉アミにチラシを見せている瑛子。

　　　アミ：　いいじゃん、これ。経験問わず素人大歓迎
　　　瑛子：　もしかして、デカいチャンスじゃん？妙子やみつこには教え
　　　　　　　んといてな。女の枠はうちだらけね
　　　アミ：　キコは？
　　　瑛子：　絶対あかんやん！ライバル増やしてどないすんねん
　　　アミ：　ケチやねぇ。相変わらず。じゃあ、シンやフカミには教えて
　　　　　　　あげる。男ならいいでしょ？
　　　瑛子：　うーん、ギリな？でも女の枠はマジでうちらだけな
　　　アミ：　わかった
　　　瑛子：　絶対やで
　　　アミ：　わかった
　　　瑛子：　約束やで
　　　アミ：　約束？
　　　瑛子：　これはやばい、破ったらめっちゃやばい

 　映画用語。映画撮影などでよく使用する「本番、テイク」。
　■　roll
　「回す」。映画撮影でのカメラを回すという意味。
　■　Set! Action!
　映画撮影時、監督が出す掛け声のこと。「よーい！スタート！」
　■　clapperboard
　映画撮影用のカチンコ。
　■　snap out
　元々の意味は「目が覚める」。映画の冒頭では、各々の出演者が何の変哲もない日常でもやもやしていたころ、映画スタッフがチラシを配って「気分転換に！」と誘った時の表現。
　■　lose these musical chairs
　musical chairsは「椅子取りゲーム」。元は子供の遊びだが、現代ではポストを巡る争いや競争社会という意味で使われる。瑛子の台詞の「これはやばい、破ったらめっちゃやばい」は主役のチャンスを失う予感があったことから、「ここは大事や、破ったら椅子を取られるで」を意味する。
