  Katako is looking at Yasuko who goes away from this studio. Every staff is in a trance.

            Joe:  So, how should I say it?
         Muto:  Out of the question! We must not apply that crazy lady!
  Kobayashi:  Maybe, you're right.
       Katako:  Let's use her.
  Kobayashi:  Ha?
       Katako:  We'll recruit that lady!
  Kobayashi: Oh.
       Katako:  I have an idea.
  Kobayashi:  Katako, what are you talking about?

  Katako holds a pen and a piece of paper near the table and…

  Katako:  A mysterious girl walks on. When she walks… a mysterious girl
                 walks on. Walks on…

  Katako continues to write the scenario.

68.  AT THE STAGE OF THE AUDITION, IN THE HALLWAY

  Shin Okamura (Shin), Jiro Joshima (Jey), and Genki Fukami (Fukami) are sitting on the chairs. Eiko is seriously practicing for the play. Shin pushes Eiko's nose in her business.

  Shin:  Don't ignore me.

  Joe and Taya are getting out from the stage of the audition.

   Joe:  Ah… so, the next group, please come in.

  Eiko stands up and talks to Joe.

  Eiko:  You said, "Please come", so I came here.
   Joe:  That's my pleasure.
  Eiko:  You said, "Join us.", so I came.
  Taya:  She came to this audition, then she said, "Please come."
  Eiko:  I'm Eiko Onoda. I'm pleased to see you.
   Joe:  Miss Eiko, I understood… (Shin and others are sitting near Eiko)
            Please come in.

  Shin, Jey, and Fukami stand up.

        Jey:  See you again.
       Ami:  Yay!
   others:  Yay!
  Fukami:  After that, let's go to the Love Hotel.
       Shin:  Ha-ha-ha-ha, I'll pass it by dumb luck.
         Jey:  Hey! Let's go.
       Shin:  Yeah!

  The man says, "Good afternoon!" and enters the studio. Other ladies left on the floor talking something ridiculous.

         Eiko: Why is everybody here?
         Ami:  Eiko, don't say stingy on that.
         Eiko:  Well, you can't pass this audition if you want.
        Kiko:  What do you mean?
       Miku:  Um, um! Everybody, be quiet!
         Eiko:  You can't pass it.
         Ami:  Guess what, everyone has the right to join this audition, isn't
                    it?
  Mitsuko:  Bad thing?
        Kiko:  No problem.
        Eiko:  I have a problem. There is a betrayer. Here, here, and here. I
                  mean, all of them.

  All applicants say a lot of things.

  Eiko:  Just be quiet. Excuse me, there is a betrayer, I think I met you at
            the coffee…

 

69.  AT THE STAGE OF THE AUDITION, IN THE STUDIO

  (From this point, while re-shooting the play within it, the characters from the past will connect this story in a relay system.)
  Now they are in the stage of the audition.

  Kobayashi:  Ready, set! Action!
           Man:  Hey.
           Lady:  What?
  Kobayashi:  Action!
            Man:  Hey.
            Lady:  What?
            Man:  Do you know that the world will be stopped?
  Kobayashi:  Ready, set! Action!
            Man:  Hey.
           Lady:  What?
           Lady:  What?
           Man:  Do you know that the world will be stopped?
           Man:  Do you know that the world will be stopped soon?
           Lady:  Stop? I know that it will be an end.
           Lady:  I know that it will be an end.

  Kobayashi:  Action!

            Lady:  What are you saying!? You always say that you're sleepless.
                       Don't you get crazy!

            Lady:  When I get on the train, the next side of the train starts, it
                       is under the illusion that my train starts.
            Lady:  That is the same as…
            Lady:  That's not my responsibility. The world got crazy.
            Man:  Yeah.
            Lady:  Shut up~!

  The lady aims a pistol at the man. Katako aims a pistol at all the people.

　岡村晋（シン）、城島二郎（J）、深水元気（フカミ）が座っている。瑛子は必死にセリフの練習をしている。シンが瑛子にちょっかいを出している。

　　シン：　お前無視すんなよ

　オーディション会場からジョーと田屋が出てくる。

　ジョー：　えーでは、次のグループの方、中にお入りください

　瑛子、立ち上がりジョーに話しかける。

　　瑛子：　あの、あの喫茶店で会いましたよね。チラシ直接受け取りまし
　　　　　　た
　ジョー：　ああ！
　　瑛子：　来てくださいって言われたんで、来ました
　ジョー：　ありがとうございます
　　瑛子：　出てくださいって言われたんで、来ました
　　田屋：　来てくださいって、オーディション・・・
　　瑛子：　小野田瑛子です。よろしくお願いします
　ジョー：　瑛子さん、わかりました。・・・（瑛子の隣に座っているシン

　シン、J、フカミが立ちあがる。

　男たち、「失礼します！！」と言いながら中に入っていく。残った女達はたわいもない話をしている。

　　瑛子：　なんで全員おるの？
　　アミ：　瑛子、ケチくさいこと言わない
　　瑛子：　これじゃぁ受かるもん受からんて
　　キコ：　何いってんの？
　　美久：　あの、あの！みなさん静かに
　　瑛子：　受からんてぇ～
　　アミ：　いいじゃん、みんなで受けたって。ねえ？
　みつこ：　なんか悪い？
　　キコ：　問題なし
　　瑛子：　問題あります。ここに裏切り者いますけど。ココとココとココ

　いろんな場所でプロフィールを見て、試行錯誤している方子の姿。

NOTES

■　recruit
　「（会社や役所などの組織）で（人）を採用する」という意味でrecruitを使用するが、語源はフランス語のrecruterから由来する。「徴募・新兵」を意味し、国家間の戦争のため軍隊を動員する形で人を招集した制度である。現代では、会社などの組織の採用制度という意味で用いられる。

　dumbは形容詞で「馬鹿な、愚かな」という意味。

■　shut up
　日常会話において命令形でshut up!（黙れ！）と使用することが多い。
