兵頭精女史は日本女性初の飛行家です。三等飛行機操縦士として飛行競技会などで活躍するも、マスコミの好奇の的となり恋愛スキャンダル記事によりまもなく引退しました。
Ms. Tadashi Hyodo is the first Japanese woman aviator. While active in flying competitions as a third-class airplane pilot, she soon became the focus of media curiosity and retired shortly after due to articles about a love scandal.

『新しい時代を担う自由な女』
精は10歳のときに亡くなった父親が描き残した飛行機の設計図を見つけてからパイロットを志します。父親が書き残した飛行機の研究書物を読みあさります。同郷の飛行機研究家・二宮忠八の逸話も精を勇気付けます。さらに、松山市の済美高等女学校（現・済美高等学校）在学中の1916年、来日した米国人女性パイロットのキャサリン・スティンソンの夜間飛行や宙返り、空中に黄煙で文字を書く華麗な曲芸飛行に精は夢中になります。卒業後は、嫁ぐことを断固拒否、日本飛行学校の講義録を読みあさります。困り果てた周囲から医師や教師を勧められ看護師の見習いに大阪に出ます。精は1年足らずで、民間飛行家らが集う日本初の民間飛行場のある千葉県稲毛海岸を目指して上京します。
『飛んでる女の恋愛スキャンダル』
精は姉・カゾエに頼み込んで資金援助と同郷の弁護士・富田数男の保証人を得て、20歳のときに伊藤音次郎の飛行学校に入学を果たします。大卒初任給の4倍もの高額な訓練費用を工面するため通常半年の教習コースを3年半かけて修了します。男性に混じって飛行機の整備・学科・操縦に励みながら、滑空中の墜落事故・海上不時着水、また流産を経て、23歳のときに三等飛行機操縦士免状を取得。当時の女性が受験できる二等また三等飛行機操縦士は、自家用機で飛行場周辺の操縦を許可するものでした。精は早速、帝国飛行協会主催の三等飛行機操縦士飛行競技に参加、スピード種目15人中10位で今までの訓練費用の倍の賞金を獲得します。プロ飛行士として活躍する目前、富田数男との恋愛スキャンダルならびに飛行学校からの除名処分が報道されます。精は何より飛ぶことを優先させようとしましたが、間もなく航空界から身を引き二度と飛ぶことはありませんでした。
"A free woman carrying the new era"
When Tadashi found the airplane blueprints left by her father, who passed away when she was 10 years old, she aspires to become a pilot. She thoroughly reads the research materials on the airplane left by her father. The anecdotes of fellow hometown airplane researcher, Chuhachi Ninomiya, also encourage Tadashi. Furthermore, while attending Saimi High School for Girls in Matsuyama City in 1916, Sei becomes fascinated by the night flights, loops, and spectacular aerobatic maneuvers of American female pilot Katherine Stinson, who visited Japan. After graduation, Tadashi firmly refuses to marry and instead delves into the lecture notes of the Japan Aviation School. Despite suggestions from those around her to become a doctor or teacher, Tadashi goes to Osaka to become an apprentice nurse, only to head to Chiba Prefecture's Inage Beach, where Japan's first private airfield for civilian aviators is located, in less than a year.
"A Flying Woman's Love Scandal"
Tadashi, relying on her sister Kazoe for financial support and with the guarantee of local lawyer Kazuo Tomita, enrolls in Ito Onjirou's aviation school at the age of 20. To cover the high training costs, four times the starting salary of a college graduate, she completes the usual six-month training course in three and a half years. Amidst men, she diligently engages in aircraft maintenance, theoretical studies, and piloting. Through gliding accidents, emergency sea landings, and a miscarriage, she obtains a third-class pilot's license at the age of 23. At that time, women were only allowed to take exams for second or third-class pilot licenses, permitting them to fly around airfields in private planes. Tadashi promptly participates in the Imperial Aviation Association's third-class pilot flying competition, securing prize money double the amount she spent on training by finishing 10th out of 15 in the speed event. Just as she is on the verge of becoming a professional aviator, news of a love scandal with Kazuo Tomita and expulsion from the aviation school is reported. Despite prioritizing flying above all else, Tadashi soon withdraws from the aviation world and never flies again.
