組織の最高責任者の立場に立つと、部下はもちろん、それまで同僚として一緒に働いてきた人びとの自分に対する見方が変わってきます。自分は変わらなくとも、周りでは見方が変わり、ほんとうのことを言ってくれる親友というものは、地位が上になればなるほど少なくなるというのが現実ではないでしょうか。
そういう意味で、最高責任者は好むと好まざるとにかかわらず、心の上にいろいろなさびしさが出てきて、いわば孤独な立場になるということが言えます。
だからこそ、いわゆる声なき声というものに耳を傾ける謙虚さというものが、トップに立つ者にとってはきわめて大切だと思うのです。

When you are in the position of the chief executive officer of an organization, your subordinates, as well as the people you have worked with as colleagues, will have a different view of you. Even if you don't change, the people around you do, and the more senior you are, the less likely you are to have a good friend who will tell you the truth.
In this sense, the chief executive officer, whether he likes it or not, is in a lonely position with a lot of loneliness in his heart.
That is why I think it is extremely important for those at the top to have the humility to listen to the so-called voice of the voiceless.
