【345日目 note千日回峰行】欠点を見せる

上に立つ人は、自分の欠点をみずから知るとともに
それを部下の人たちに知ってもらい
それをカバーしてもらうようにすることが大事だと思う。
部下の人が全知全能でないごとく、上に立つ人とても完全無欠ではない。
部下の人よりは欠点は少ないかも知れないが
それでも何らかの欠点を持たないという人はいないだろう。
その欠点多き上司が自分の知恵
自分の力だけで仕事を進めていこうとすれば
これは必ずといっていいほど失敗するだろう。
やはり、自分の欠点を部下の人に知ってもらい補ってもらってこそ
はじめて上司としての職責が全うできるのである。

I think it is important for those who are in charge to know their own shortcomings and to make sure that their subordinates know about them and cover them up. Just as subordinates are not omniscient and omnipotent, superiors are not infallible. They may have fewer flaws than their subordinates, but still, no one is without some flaws.
If the flawed boss tries to do the job with only his own wisdom and strength, he will surely fail.
Only when his subordinates know his shortcomings and compensate for them can he fulfill his responsibilities as a supervisor.
