氏神さんのお祭り May in Kyoto: festival at local shrine

町内に「ドンドン」とお御輿巡行の合図の太鼓の音が聞こえると、ウキウキ！思わず外へ飛び出していました。ご近所さんとも久しぶりに顔合わせてごあいさつできました。縁日、掛馬とにぎやかなお祭りです。

'Don-Don' the sound of the drum signaling the portable shrine procession echoed through the neighborhood. So exciting! I couldn't help but rush outside. I had a chance to greet my neighbors, whom I hadn't seen in a while due to Covid-19. It's a lively festival with stalls and the 'Kakeuma' Shinji. Riders gallop horses full speed down the shrine’s entrance path while performing tricks such as hanging off the saddle by a single foot or performing shoulder stands.
