二回目はアメリカで用いられるスラング表現について学びました。

Lesson 2.

スラング集

Dude = friend
Chill = Relax
to cram = to study hard
to do well = to ace

Lit = amazing
Dope = cool
Nuts = crazy

to have the drip = to be stylish
Low-key = quiet
Bae = Girl/boy friend
On fleek = very attractive

to hit the books = to study
hyped = exited.
to be jonesing for it = to want something really bad
a dead place = a quiet and empty place

scene 1:
A: Hey Bird, what do you think of him?
B: He’s a cool dude, but too serious and doesn’t have much of a sense of humor.
A: Tell me about it.
B: Actually, he usually crams late into the night to ace his tests. He needs to chill.

- tell me about it : 本当にそうだよね
- late into the night : 夜遅くまで


Scene 2:
A: How dope! This car is literally lit, isn’t it?
B: I couldn’t agree more.
A: I’ve wanted a car like this for so long. I’m about to buy it!
B: Don’t be nuts. You’re broke right now.

 - literally : マジで
 - I couldn't agree more. : 本当にそうだよね
 - for so long : 長い間
 - be broke : 金欠である


Scene 3:
A: She’s got the drip and is totally on fleek.
B: You should be low-key; otherwise, she might overhear you.
A: I couldn’t care less.
B: She’s got her bae, so you’ve got no shot at dating her.

 - I couldn't care less : どうでもいい
 - have got a shot at doing : ~する機会がある



Scene 4:
A: This place is dead.
B: I like this kind of vibe. It’s getting me hyped.
A: What? Are you really trying to hit the books here?
B: Yeah, because I’m jonesing for some money.
