はじめに

2015年にPlanphaseという雑誌のために書いた、村野藤吾を紹介するエッセイです。村野についての文章は、英語オリジナルで書かれたものはほとんどなかったいっぽう、自分の周囲（スイス）でその特異な建築が注目されることがありました。そこで、今世紀に入ってまとめられた著作集を軸に、建築家像を紹介することをこころみました。モダニズム建築のヒーロー像とは異なる近代の建築家を再評価する、9H以降の欧州での動きに共鳴するものになればと思って筆をとりました。
執筆内容については建築家のLogan Amontさんに幾度もチェックしてただき、また雑誌掲載時のすばらしい写真は写真家のYuna Yagiさんによるものです。感謝いたします。

Forewords

This is an essay I wrote in 2015 for Planphase magazine in Munich, introducing Architect Togo Murano. While very little has been written about Murano original in English, his unique architecture has been attracting attention among my friends in Switzerland. Therefore, I have attempted to describe the architect's portrait in the context of a collection of his writings compiled at the turn of this century. I hope that this book will resonate with the European movement after 9H which re-evaluate modern architects, who were different from the heroes of modernist architecture.
