年齢に抗う（あらがう）ことが何を意味するかを実感できるような年齢となった。人生100年時代と言われるようになって久しいが，すべての人が100年も生きることができるようになったわけではない。努力と運によって，100年まで生きることが可能になったということだ。
昨晩のテレビ朝日系列の「報道ステーション」で，NHKアナからテレビ朝日専属のニュースキャスターに転籍して活躍しておられる大越健介氏が，野球の投手として「球速130キロへの道」に挑戦する模様が放映された。私は大越キャスターと同い年であるので，62歳の年齢に抗う大越氏の挑戦に対して思わず「がんばれ」という気持ちでテレビの画面越しで見ていた。
大越健介氏は，名門新潟高校から東京大学文科三類に合格し，東京六大学野球で東大エースとして活躍されたお方である。大越氏の時代の東京六大学野球と言えば，早稲田大学の荒木大輔氏が「大ちゃんフィーバー」を起こした時代と少し重なっている。私は，学生時代に早慶戦にはよく応援に行ったが，残念ながら，早東（早稲田vs東大）戦は一度も観戦したことがなかったので，神宮球場における当時の大越氏の投球を見たことはなかった。
60歳を超えても，球速130キロに挑戦することのできる体力を維持する現役ニュースキャスターの大越氏に脱帽である。
Anti-Aging：June 20th(Thursday)
I have reached an age where I can truly understand what it means to resist aging. It has been a while since people started talking about living in an era where life spans reach 100 years, but it doesn’t mean that everyone can live up to 100. It means that through effort and luck, living to 100 has become possible.
Last night on TV Asahi’s “Hodo Station,” Kensuke Ogoshi, who has transitioned from being an NHK announcer to a TV Asahi exclusive news anchor, was shown taking on the challenge of becoming a baseball pitcher who can throw at 130 km/h. Since I am the same age as Mr. Ogoshi, watching his challenge to defy the age of 62 made me instinctively cheer him on through the TV screen.
Kensuke Ogoshi graduated from the prestigious Niigata High School and was admitted to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences III at the University of Tokyo, where he shone as the ace pitcher in the Tokyo Big6 Baseball League. The Tokyo Big6 Baseball League during Ogoshi’s era slightly overlapped with the time when Daisuke Araki of Waseda University caused the "Dai-chan Fever." During my student days, I often went to cheer at the Waseda-Keio games, but unfortunately, I never had the chance to watch the Waseda-Tokyo University games, so I never saw Ogoshi pitch at Jingu Stadium.
I am in awe of Ogoshi, who, even after turning 60, maintains the physical strength to take on the challenge of throwing at 130 km/h while being an active news anchor.
