Drake - Jungle 和訳

2015年にリリースされたDrakeのアルバム「If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late」に収録されている「Jungle」を訳しました。'Jungle（ジャングル）'とはギャングが集まるトロント近郊の地域'Lawrence Heights'を指すスラングです。この歌はある特定の'jungle'出身の女性の話で、ドレイクが有名になるにつれて彼らの関係を保つことが難しくなってきたことが見受けられます。'Jungle'はまた、ドレイクの慌ただしいキャリアの成功と、それに相反する彼の心の内にある不安の両方が共存するドレイク自身のカオスな人生を表しています。

ChorusはGabriel Garzón Montano'6 8'のサンプリングだそうですが、ええやんええやんチルいやんと思いいざ訳してみると、めちゃくちゃバブみが強くて若干引きました。まあこういう人に甘えたくなる気持ちは歌を通してじゃないと伝えられませんもんね。ウン。

Drakeが楽曲内で使うサンプリングと言えば、少し前に面白い発見をしました。Drakeに詳しい方からしたら既知の事実かもしれないですが、'In My Feelings'の最後、フェードアウトしていく時の女の人のセリフ！あれはChildish GambinoことDonald Gloverが監督・主演のAtlantaからサンプリングされたものなんですよね。

これをAtlantaで聞いた時は、え待ってなんか聞いたことあんねんけどー！！ってかなりテンション上がりました。めちゃくちゃアイコニックですよね。「うちのインスタ弱いからとりあえずドレイクと写真撮らな」ってマジ現代。AtlantaはNetflixで視聴可能なので是非観てみてください。
