らしい

"らしい" is an expression used to speculate based on information seen or heard.

彼は大学を卒業したら、実家を継ぐらしい。
かれはだいがくをそつぎょうしたら、じっかをつぐらしい。
He seems likely to take over his family home after graduating from university.

友人によると、あのカフェのモンブランはとても美味しいらしい。
ゆうじんによると、あのかふぇのもんぶらんはとてもおいしいらしい。
According to a friend, the Mont Blanc at that café is said to be very delicious.

Additionally, "らしい" is used after a noun to express that a quality or characteristic fully applies.

冬が終わって、ようやく春らしい陽気になってきました。
ふゆがおわって、ようやくはるらしいようきになってきました。
The weather has finally become spring-like now that winter is over.

ずっと仕事が忙しく、子供には親らしいことは何もしてあげられませんでした。
ずっとしごとがいそがしく、こどもにはおやらしいことはなにもしてあげられませんでした。
I have been so busy with work that I couldn't do anything befitting a parent for my child.
