イギリスのBP、スペインでグリーン水素生産。

イギリスの石油大手BPは2023年02月28日に、スペイン東部バレンシア州カステリョン製油所(Castellon refinery, Valencia, eastern Spain.)でグリーン水素を生産するため、2030年までに最大€20億を投じる計画を発表した。

BPが率いる官民連携プロジェクトで、2030年までに電解槽の容量を最大2ギガワットに引き上げる。

最初の電解槽は2027年に稼働予定で、容量は200メガワット。グリーン水素の年産量は最大3万1,200トンと見込まれる。

BP 製油所で用いられている化石燃料由来のグレー水素を、再生可能エネルギー由来のグリーン水素に切り替えることで、操業の脱炭素化につなげるという。

このプロジェクトでは併せて、カステリョン製油所におけるバイオ燃料生産能力を、3倍の年間65万トンに引き上げる。

生産されたグリーン水素は、SAF(持続可能な航空燃料)を含むバイオ燃料生産にも用いられる。

BPはさらに、グリーン水素をバレンシア州の排出削減が困難な産業にも供給する計画。

窯業の天然ガスの代替や、化学産業でのグリーンアンモニアの生産などに活用される見通しだという。

ヨーロッパでも、電気だけでは無理だと気が付き始めた。
