No mistakes, no gain

There is a proverb "no pain, no gain" which means to achieve something by suffering or working hard. Instead, I thought as the title "no mistakes, no gain" would explain what I think about studying English. This could be said for everything that you need to work hard.

I have been studying English for a long time in my life. My first experience using English was at the age 7. That was when I started living in the United States.

My father was transferred to North Carolina and my family started living there together. At that time, I knew nothing about English. All I could say was yes or no. Of course, I couldn't understand what others were saying. I remember that I was using gestures to try to explain what I wanted to say.

It's quite a surprise that I became to like English after overcoming those difficulties. I will try to write about these experiences in other articles looking back to my memories.

What I wanted to say here is that English is a tool to communicate with others. Therefore, I don't really mind about making mistakes especially when speaking. It is better if you can speak or write correctly all the time, but that's difficult.

The most important thing for communication is to express or exchange opinions with each other. To be extreme, you could just say the certain words using gestures to tell what you want to eat or what you like. If it's possible to communicate face to face, this way of communication may be enough.

The days knowing nothing about English made me feel that making mistakes are not so scared. Moreover, it's necessary to tell others how I felt or what I liked. Therefore, a little more courage will help you to improve your skills.
