2023年前半戦の「通知表」－ヤンキース各選手＋千賀

MLBではオールスターが終わりいよいよ後半戦に入る。オールスター休みのこの時期、NYのメディアでは、ヤンキース、メッツの前半戦の主要選手の「通知表」をつける。かつてはNYポスト、NYデイリーニューズもつけていたが、今はNYポストだけがつけているようだ。

今回はヤンキース版について取り上げる。その結果は、以下のサイトに載っている。

結果をまとめると以下のようになる。

Aクラスはコールとジャッジ、Fはセベリーノ、スタントン、ルメイヒュー、カブレラの4人。前半戦1登板だけのロドン投手は評価なし。ブーン監督はC、キャッシュマンGMはDだ。
下位の選手や監督、GMについてのコメントを取り上げよう。

ドナルドソン
The definition of feast or famine, Donaldson has only 15 hits in 112 plate appearances (he missed two months on the IL), but 10 of them are home runs.
大吉と出るか大凶と出るかがはっきりとしている。ドナルドソンは12打席で15本しかヒットを打っていなかった（2か月はILで欠場）が、そのうち10本はホームランだ。

セベリーノ
His first two starts off the IL in May were impressive, but all but one since have been the opposite. One of the Yankees’ biggest question marks in the second half.
IL復帰後の2登板は印象的だったが、それ以降は、1登板を除き正反対だった。後半戦のヤンキース最大の疑問符の1人だ。

スタントン
The streaky slugger can still hit some moonshots, but he hasn’t consistently stepped up when the Yankees have needed him most, with Judge out.
波の大きいスラッガーは何本かモンスターショットを打てるが、ジャッジ欠場下で最もヤンキースが必要とするときに安定した活躍ができていない。

ルメイヒュー
Last year, his toe and foot injury was to blame. This year? The veteran insists he is healthy, which almost makes his struggles more concerning.
昨年は、つま先と足の故障が原因だった。今年は？このベテランは健康と言っているが、だからこそ不振が余計に気がかりになる。

カブレラ
After starting in left field on Opening Day, Cabrera has failed to capitalize on his opportunity. The Yankees have tried to send him to Triple-A twice, only for injuries elsewhere to quickly force them to bring him back."
開幕戦でレフトを守った後、カブレラはチャンスをものにすることができなかった。ヤンキースは2度３Aに送ろうとしたが、他の選手が故障したおかげですぐに呼び戻さざるを得なくなった。

ブーン監督
As always, Boone has taken some heat for some of his bullpen decisions and for lifting starting pitchers either too early or too late. But he continues to protect his players, both with his words and with days off.
いつものとおり、ブーンは、ブルペンの判断や先発投手の早い交代や引っ張り過ぎで批判を受けている。しかし、発言や休養により選手を守り続けている。

キャッシュマンGM
The roster that Cashman built has been exposed as having some serious flaws, including an overdependance on aging and injury-prone hitters and not adequately addressing left field.

キャッシュマンが作り上げたロスターは、いくつもの穴があるとの批判にさらされてきた。高齢で故障がちの打者に頼り過ぎ、レフトの問題を適切に解決できてないことが挙げられる。

Walks and the ability to work deep into games were the right-hander’s biggest issue in the first half, but he has shown, in more than a few flashes, that he can be special.
