October 22, 2022: Online Morning Book Club, Takeshi Yoro, ‘Homo Sapiens’ Wall’ (1)) （オンラインモーニング読書会、養老孟司、「ヒトの壁」（1））

I attended the Online Morning Book Club six times in a row. I am getting used to waking up early.
In this session, we brought and introduced our favourite books to each other. I introduced ‘Homo Sapiens’ Wall’ by Takeshi Yoro. I had read it before. But as I could not fully understand it, I wanted to reread it at the session.
Like always, we looked at the front and back covers of the book and made out the outline. Then, I asked the author a question about how he spends a week. Finally, I read the book to find the answer.
Unfortunately, I failed to find the answers I wanted. But I found some hints in Chapter 4 ‘C'est La Vie.’ The keywords were stray and domestic cats and our lives set by a doctor. Domestic cats have to live within certain restrictions ruled by the owner. But no stray cats have such limitations. They can live as they like. Like domestic cats, we must follow what a doctor says once we get ill and see a doctor. This part reminds me that I always live under certain restrictions, too.
I also talked about the matter with two other members.

　オンラインモーニング読書会に参加しました。これで6回連続です。早起きも慣れてきました。
　今回の読書会では、自分の好きな本を持ち寄って、本を紹介し合いました。ボクが紹介した本は、養老孟司さんの「ヒトの壁」です。この本は、一度読んだのですが、消化不良だったので、この読書会でもう一度読みたいと思い紹介しました。
　まず、例によって、表紙の表裏と帯を眺めて、本の概要をつかみました。そして、「どのように一週間を過ごしていますか」という問いを著者に立てました。この質問を踏まえ、この本を読みました。ぴったりの解はありませんでしたが、ヒントになるものがありました。そのキーワードは、第4章「人生とはそんなもの」にある「野良猫と家猫」と「医学が指定する人生」です。家猫は飼い主のルールなどの一定の枠に中で生きているのに対して、野良猫はルールの制約を受けません。「医学が指定する人生」も調子が悪いと思って病院に行くと、その診断に沿った生活をしなければなりません。これも、枠の一例です。この部分を読んで、自分も常に決められた枠の中で生きていると改め感じました。
　また、この件について2名のメンバーと話したところ、彼らも同感でした。
