October 9, 2021：暑い天気、地球温暖、資源価格高騰、急がば回れ (Hot Weather, Global Warming, Rising Natural Resource Prices)

 The last few days have been hot. It is commonly “warm” on a sunny day in October, but instead, it is “hot” these days. The days are so hot that short trousers and a short-sleeved shirt are the best clothes for me. The increase in temperature seems to be due to global warming.
 In addition, global warming causes a continuous rise in prices of natural resources such as crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG). China is boosting its efforts to secure LNG as part of countermeasures against global warming.
The surge in the prices of natural resources will have a significant impact on our family budget. Gas prices and utility bills have already been rising. Further, as the heating bill for this winter is forecast to rise, some measures may be required for self-defence.
 Then, I perversely imagine that global warming may not always cause bad things. For example, mild winter helps lower heating costs. It also helps mitigate the physical and psychological stress of people in snowbound regions.
 The global warming issues remind me of the saying, “Slow and steady wins the race”.

　それにしても暑い。10月のぽかぽか陽気は、「暖かい」と表現するのが普通ですが、ここ数日の陽気は「暖かい」を越えて「暑い」といいたくなる。半ズボン、半袖シャツが最適と感じるほど暑い。昨今、叫ばれている「地球温暖化」の影響だろう。
　暑さもさることながら、原油やLNGの価格高騰が止まらない。こちらも「地球温暖化」の影響らしい。中国が温暖化対策として、石炭に代わってLNGを爆買いしているのが原因といわれている。資源価格の高騰は、われわれの生活を直撃する。ガソリンや光熱費が値上がりしている。この冬の暖房費は大幅にアップが見込まれることから、自己防衛策が必要になる。
　こうなると、あまのじゃくの私は、「温暖化」は悪いことばかりなのかと考えてしまう。暖冬は、暖房費の削減に役立つ。雪国の人の心身の負担を軽減にも役立つ。
なにごとも、「急がば回れ」のようだ。
