I read an interesting article mentioning that Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. established the "child care leave workplace support allowance," which provides money to colleagues of employees who take child care leave. The company thinks that it may alleviate criticism faced by employees taking child care leave. According to the article, the policy seems to be well-received by workers. It highlights one worker's appreciation of the allowance because the workload increases temporarily when a colleague takes child care leave. 

While giving an allowance to colleagues can be a good idea, it requres a significant amount of money to implement, limiting it primarily to large companies. Small and medium-sized firms should first encourage their workers to take child care leave.
