○Regis Prograis(USA)Champion
●Danielito Zorrilla(Puerto Rico)#20
Sprit Decision(117-110,113-114,118-109)

Prograis' strategy of creating a rhythm from incessant body moves and using this to disguise his opponent hardly worked. Zorrilla, who had a large distance to cover, ignored his movements and did not move out of the way. And it was also significant that in the first round, Pregrais suddenly swung an overhand left and quickly matched it with a right hand. This shook Prograis to the core, and he got pissed off and went for a left hand, only to be met again by a straight right hand from Zorrilla. When it hit him squarely in the face, Prograis dropped to his back and clung to Zorrilla, who lost his balance and was able to shake him off, sending him falling to the canvas. Referee Ray Corona, however, judged it to be a pusher by Zorrilla and let it go with no count. It was a clear misjudgement.

In the third round, Prograis landed a hard left hand that landed on Zorrilla's butt, but Zorrilla was able to get out of the way. Zorrilla was able to land a shot when he was able to get to his feet by cutting back on his step. It was an extremely fortunate knockdown for the champion.

In the middle rounds, when the crowd began to boo both fighters, even though they were fighting in their hometown ring, Prograis was determined to close the distance by leaping and swinging lefts and rights. But Zorrilla quickly dodged it with a backstep and a circling move. Prograis was never impressed as he spun off balance.

Zorrilla thoroughly dodged Prograis' hard strikes and controlled the distance. Prograis suddenly hit just a few straight lefts to the body and showed his aggressiveness to the end, but they were not on the same wavelength at all and ended the match with indigestion. If anyone could have done what he wanted to do, it was the challenger, but his extremely passive tactics probably did not impress the judges.

Incidentally, if you attribute Prograis' first round downfall to an added blow, my score is 114-113 for Zorrilla. If I had to go with the referee's decision, it would be 114-114.

WBA WelterWeight Elimination bout 12R
○Shakhram Giyasov(Uzbekistan)#5
●Harold Calderon(USA)#10
Unanimous Desision(120-108、118-110、116-112)

Giyasov, 13-0, 9 KOs; southpaw Calderon, 27-0, 18 KOs. The world-ranked duel between the two undefeated fighters was a one-sided affair for the former.

It was only at the beginning of the first round that the exchange of front hands created a sense of urgency. After Giyasov transitioned to an exchange of back hands and fed him a right hand, Calderon quickly became passive when he matched a return left hook with a shallow left hook.
He then landed a left to the lead and a straight right to the body. In the fourth round, Calderon tried to change his inferiority complex, finally using his left more often to control Giyasov's smooth lead blows. Giyasov hit a straight right body counter, but Calderon also matched it with a left body uppercut that flustered Giyasov a bit.

However, Calderon buckled when Giyasov turned from his light hitting left and right lead blows and unleashed a well-timed, yet strong overhand right. He was unable to put any pressure on Giyasov at all, as the left hand he unleashed also struck with trepidation.

Giyasov was steadily gaining control of the points, rhythm, and pace of the game. But he never really picked up his pace and kept the same rhythm until the bell sounded to end the final round.

Giyasov's mentality was strong as he finished the job despite the loud boos. However, his style of pounding on a stone bridge and not crossing it, let alone gaining popularity, foreshadowed his fragility in the future when he is brought to the brink of a fight.
