可能性・タレント One step at a time

二千年以上も読み継がれている史上最長のロングセラー、バイブル。

「タレント」、日本ではもっぱら芸能界で活躍されている人のことを意味しているようですが、タレントとは広く才能・特技などともいわれています。さらにその昔、聖書が書かれていたころ、タレントとは通貨の単位としても使われていたようです。

そんなわけで今日は新約聖書のあるお話から。

ある地主が長いこと家を空けるにあたり、３人の給仕に相応の「タレント」を分け与えて旅にでます。当時の１タレントとは今でいうと百万程度の非常に高額の価値があったそうです。
５タレントを受け取った賢い給仕はその５タレントを元手に５タレントを生みだし１０タレントにしました。すごい投資の技があったのでしょうね。
２タレントを受け取った２番目の給仕はこれまた倍の４タレントに仕上げました。そして、最後の給仕は。。。

But he who received the one talent went away and dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.　Matthew 25:18 NASB

お戻りになられたマスターは１番目の給仕にこう言います。
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’　Matthew 25:21  NASB

５＋５タレント以上の褒章を与えたのですね～～

そして最後の給仕は。
“Now the one who had received the one talent also came up and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed. And I was afraid, so I went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you still have what is yours.’
Matthew 25:24-25  NASB

つまりタンス預金ってやつですかね。。。

“But his master answered and said to him, ‘You worthless, lazy slave! Did you know that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter seed? Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and [h]on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. Therefore: take the talent away from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’
