Goethe, an eminent German poet, once wisely argued that it is not too much to say that people, who don’t know the second language, are as good as those who don’t know what their native language looks like. Knowing that language is what makes us different from other animals, we humans have lived in this diverse world with confidence, as masters of the whole universe.
 
Admitting that there is always another side of the coin of advantages and disadvantages to this question statement depending on the value system, personal traits, or mindsets per se, the answer varies from person to person. All in all, I believe that living in countries where English is mostly spoken is the best among many choices.
 
First of all, the crux of mastering English is in whether we can concentrate on studying it or not, i.e. if we continue to dwell in our home countries, it is very difficult for us to be focused on studying English, since a lot of situations require or even force us to use our native languages even when we are determined to master the lingua franca, which eventually prevents us from nurturing our linguistic ability per se. However, living in the English-speaking countries means that we have to master English in order to survive, which helps us become sophisticated English speakers.
 
Second of all, dwelling in those countries has an advantageous point that we can touch or know the genuine English culture, which most English speakers have in common. For example, in conversation, Americans are said to avoid silence, while the Japanese don’t consider it a bad thing. I believe that people who want to truly master English should learn this kind of culture, which will give us the better understanding of English per se. It is no exaggeration to mention that living in English-speaking countries and communicating with local people for many times are the best way to swiftly master English.
 
In conclusion, living in English-speaking countries is the best way to learn English, as it will help us both focus on studying English and understand the English culture which is closely related to English per se.
