We asked the users! Various ways to use the virtual classroom

We interviewed Mr. Sahara of Kaien Corporation, an AVOS user! Kaien Inc. provides learning support and employment support for people with developmental disabilities.
In this interview, we would like to introduce a user's firsthand account of what they are actually doing in their virtual classroom.

How to use the Virtual Classroom

Kaien offers 4 to 5 live courses daily on ZOOM, and once or twice a month, they hold schooling sessions using a virtual classroom.
During the schooling, they hold quiz competitions and other games, where the contestant asks a question, the participants move to the room they think is the correct answer in the two classrooms, and the contestant comes into the room with the correct answer, just like the rating check familiar from the TV show!
This is a unique use of AVOS OpenWater, which allows us to use an entire floor of the virtual classroom! This is a unique use of AVOS OpenWater, which can use an entire floor of a virtual classroom!

Which room is correct?

They also use screen sharing to make presentations. They are presenting their hobbies and interests, and the people watching them react with the applause function, and they seem to have mastered the use of the system.

It's nice when you're presenting and you get a reaction of applause!

Requests, etc.

・Since there are many participants, it would be easier to understand who is speaking (chat function) if a speech bubble appears above the avatar.
・I would like to see more variations of reactions. (This is in preparation! )
・It would be nice to have something like a school announcement that can be heard even across rooms.
・I would like to see a manual on basic usage, such as how to create avatars.
・It would be nice to be able to adjust the volume all at once.

Currently, most of them are participating using their default avatars, but they are still interested in creating avatars.
Some of them wanted to create not only human avatars, but also character avatars for trains, vehicles, animals, and so on.
We are planning to make the avatars more expressive, so please look forward to it, but the train avatar seems to be quite a hurdle...

We were surprised to hear that you have been using the system more than we had imagined.
I was especially surprised at the use of the system as a rating checker. I had no idea there was such a use. It seems to be a lot of fun, whether there are many or few participants.
Once again, I felt that there are many ways to use the virtual classroom.
We also received some requests, so we will make use of them in our future development.
Thank you, Mr. Sahara, for your valuable talk!

AVOS can create a free virtual space that can be used not only as a classroom, but for a variety of other purposes, so take advantage of it!
