10日目　Day 10

今日はケープコースト城を訪れました。ケープコースト城は奴隷貿易が盛んに行われた場所であり、負の遺産として登録されています。一時期は、金の交易で栄え黄金海岸と呼ばれるました。しかしイギリス人に支配された後は奴隷貿易の拠点として発展したのでした。ケープコースト城には地下牢が男性と女性合わせて7つあり、一部屋最大200人と本当に多くの人が収容されていました。高窓は二つしかなく、ライトを消してみると中は本当に真っ暗。トイレもない、食事も与えられない、本当に劣悪な環境でたくさんの人が亡くなりました。私たちは過去に起きたことから目をそむけることなく学び続けなければなりません。

Today I visited Cape Coast Castle. Cape Coast Castle was the site of a thriving slave trade and is listed as a negative heritage site. At one time, it was known as the Gold Coast because of its flourishing gold trade. However, after the British took over the area, it developed into a hub for the slave trade. Cape Coast Castle had seven dungeons, five for men and two for women, with a maximum of 200 people in each room. There were only two high windows, and when the lights were switched off, it was really dark inside. There were no toilets and no food, and many people died in deplorable conditions. We must continue to learn from what happened in the past without looking away.
