4日目　Day4

今日から小学校、中学校での教育リサーチが始まりました！昨日は小学5年生のクラス見学。まずは日本の学校と比べて違う点をいくつかまとめました。
Today, I started education research in a public primary and junior high school. I joined the grade 5 class today. First, some of the differences compared to Japanese schools are summarised below.

・同じ敷地内には幼稚園から中学3年生までの生徒が在籍している。students from kindergarten to grade 9 (JHS3) enrolled on the same premises.

・授業時間としては小学1年生から中学3年生まで共通で下記のようになっている。The following are standard class hours for grades 1 to 9. 

8-9 1限 first class 
9-10 2限
10-10:30 snack time 
10:30-11:30 3限
11:30-12:30 4限
12:30-13 lunchtime 
13-14 5限
14-15 6限 final class

・各先生は教科ごとに担当が分かれている。
Each teacher is assigned to a different subject area.

一つとても興味深い授業がありました。それは、RME (Religions and Moral Education). 授業の中で生徒たちがガーナにおける3つの代表的な宗教を取り上げ、授業の中でわかりやすく発表し実践するというものです。生徒たち自身が、ただ教科書を読んで知識を入れるのではなく、目で見て実際に行うといった事にとても力を入れているように感じられました。There was one very interesting lesson. It was RME (Religions and Moral Education). In the class, the students took up three representative religions in Ghana and presented and practised them in an easy-to-understand way in class. I felt that the students themselves put a lot of effort into not just reading the textbook and gaining knowledge, but seeing and actually doing it.
