ガーナでの生活も残り数日となりました。今日と明日を使って、インターンシップと日常生活のまとめを行おうと思います。まずはインターンシップに関してです。インターンの中で教育とナマズの市場リサーチを行ったことは何度も記載してきましたが、それを行うにあたって受け入れてくれた団体についてはまだ触れていませんでした。私がこの一ヶ月間所属していたのは、NKWA Foundation という団体です。ガーナのケープコーストで、持続可能なコミュニティ開発、健康増進、農村教育支援に重点を置く非営利団体です。インターンシップというとある程度やるべき仕事が決められており、それをこなしつつ社会経験を得るものが多いです。インターンシップの括りですが、今回の場合はリサーチトリップにほぼ近かったのでたくさんの学びを得ることができました。
I have only a few days left of my time in Ghana. I will use today and tomorrow to summarise my internship and daily life. First of all, I would like to talk about the internship. I have mentioned many times that I did research education and catfish during my internship, but I have not yet mentioned the organisation that hosted me in doing so. The organisation I was part of for the month was the NKWA Foundation. It is a non-profit organisation in Cape Coast, Ghana, focusing on sustainable community development, health promotion and rural education support. Most internships have a certain amount of work to do, and you get social experience. This is an internship bracket, but in this case, it was almost like a research trip, and I learnt a lot.
教育現場に二週間ほどお邪魔し、私立学校のオーナー、先生方と話す中で自分が勝手に発展途上国の教育に抱いていたネガティブなイメージが良い方向へと変わりました。それと同時にやはり問題点もたくさん見えてきて、それをどう解決していくかを考える良い機会にもなりました。今回は私立学校に長い時間関わることができ、ガーナにおける教育の一面を知ることができました。次回リサーチをする機会があれば、公立学校、農村地域の学校に積極的に訪問して、ガーナにおける教育の深い部分をリサーチしたいです。ナマズの市場リサーチに関しては、初めは全く知識がないところから始まったので、興味深かったです。たくさんの人と話す機会を得ることができて、とても良い経験になりました。教育現場でリサーチを行うことも、ナマズの市場リサーチを行うことも、たくさんの人の協力がなければできなかったことです。ありがとう。将来自分が何か本格的なリサーチを行う際にはこの経験が役に立つと思います。(各リサーチの詳細は、今までのnoteに書き記してあります)
I visited the education field for about two weeks, and in talking with private school owners and teachers, my negative image of education in developing countries changed for the better. At the same time, I could see many problems, which was an excellent opportunity to think about how to solve them. This time, I spent a lot of time in public schools, which gave me an insight into one aspect of education in Ghana. If I have the opportunity to research next time, I would like to actively visit public schools and schools in rural areas to explore the deeper aspects of education in Ghana. As for the catfish market research was interesting because, in the beginning, I started with no knowledge at all. I got the chance to talk to many people, and it was a great experience. I couldn't have done it without the help of many people; it was conducting research in education and researching the catfish market. Thank you. I think this experience will be helpful when I do some research in the future. (The details of each research project are written down in the other day's NOTE so far).
アフリカに行くと決めた時に、たくさん思うところはあったと思うけれど、頑張れと送り出してくれた日本とオーストラリアの両親。ガーナと私を繋いでくれた本間さん。そして、ガーナでの活動を１から全てサポートしてくれたNKWA Foundation のファミリー。サポートしてくれた皆さんには感謝してもしきれません、本当にありがとう。明日のnoteでは日常生活の中で感じたことのまとめを行います。
My parents in Japan and Australia sent me off to do my best, even though they probably had a lot on their minds when I decided to go to Africa. Honma-san, who connected me with Ghana, and the NKWA Foundation family supported all my activities in Ghana from the beginning. I can't thank you enough to all who supported me; thank you so much. In tomorrow's NOTE, I will summarise what I feel daily.
