あらたつ先生: 今日は沖縄県那覇市で1番お勧めのカレー屋さんについて話したいと思います！その前に沖縄知ってますか？笑
Today, I would like to talk about the best curry restaurants in Naha City, Okinawa, Japan! Before that, do you know Okinawa? Haha

ナサニエル先生: 聞いたことあります。
I have heard of Okinawa.

あらたつ先生: 率直に、どんなイメージがありますか？なんとなく気になります。笑
Frankly, what impression do you have about it? I am just wondering. Haha

ナサニエル先生: 知っているのは、沖縄にはビーチがあるということです。
The only thing I know is that Okinawa has beaches. 

あらたつ先生: ナサニエル先生の意見では、フィリピンでは、日本のどこが1番有名ですか？
In the Philippines, in your opinion, what city is the most famous in Japan? 

ナサニエル先生: 間違いなく東京です！
No doubt, Tokyo. 

あらたつ先生: 東京に関してはどんなイメージがありますか？
What impression do you have about Tokyo?

ナサニエル先生: 東京は人が多くて、生活費が高い。あってますか？
Tokyo is a crowded city. It is also considered as the most expensive city to live in. Am I right?

あらたつ先生: はい、あってます！笑
Yes, you are right! Haha

ナサニエル先生: 那覇がわかりません。那覇について軽く教えてくれますか？
Hehehe! I am not familiar with Naha city. Can you give a brief description about it?

あらたつ先生: ナサニエル先生の意見では、フィリピンでは日本への旅行は人気がありますか？
In your view, is traveling to Japan popular with people in the Philippines?

ナサニエル先生: フィリピン人は、以前は仕事のためによく行っていました。最近では、多くの人が日本の春と冬を経験するために行きますね。
Filipinos used to travel to Japan for work. In recent years, many people travel to Japan to experience the spring and winter seasons. 

□ 那覇市で1番お勧めのカレー屋は！？

あらたつ先生: そうなんですね！今日の本題に入りましょう。
That’s interesting! Let’s move on to the today’s topic!

ナサニエル先生: オッケーです！
Okay!

あらたつ先生: 僕の那覇でのNo.1のカレー屋さんは、「シーバマハル」です。
The name of the best curry restaurant in Naha City for me is “Shiva Mahal”.

ナサニエル先生: シーバマハル。インドのレストランですか？
Shiva Mahal. Is it an Indian restaurant?

あらたつ先生: そうです！名前から想像できましたか？
Yes, it is! Could you guess it from the name?

ナサニエル先生: シーバはヒンドゥーの神です。間違ってなければですが。
Shiva is a god in Hindu. If I’m not mistaken. 

あらたつ先生: そうなんですか？わかりませんでした（笑）
Really? I am not sure about it! Haha

ナサニエル先生: マハルはタージマハルのような宮殿を意味します。
Mahal means palace like the Taj Mahal. 

あらたつ先生: なるほど！
Okay! 

ナサニエル先生: 笑
Hehehe

あらたつ先生: そこはカレーに関する料理を出します！
It serves dishes related to curry!

ナサニエル先生: インドのカレーですか？
Indian curry?

あらたつ先生: そうです！
Right! 

ナサニエル先生: アジア人はカレーが好きです。
Asians love curry.

あらたつ先生: 今日のお題は沖縄県那覇市のベストカレーなので、沖縄のカレーを紹介すると思ったかもしれませんね（笑）
Today’s topic is the best curry restaurant in Naha, Okinawa, so you might think I would introduce the dishes of Okinawa. Haha

ナサニエル先生: そうですね。日本の料理かと思ってました。
That’s right. I was expecting Japanese cuisine. 

あらたつ先生: 実際、沖縄の人が経営していてカレーを出すレストランはたくさんあります。
Actually, there are a lot of restaurants that serve curry in Okinawa managed by Okinawans. 

ナサニエル先生: そうなんですね🙂
That I didn’t know. 🙂

あらたつ先生: 僕の意見では、ストレートに言って、インドのカレーには勝てません（笑）
Frankly, in my opinion, they cannot win over Indian curry. Haha

ナサニエル先生: なぜですか？
Why do you say so? 

あらたつ先生: シンプルにインドのカレーの方がおいしいからです。
Simply, I’d say that the taste of India is more delicious. 

ナサニエル先生: あー！
Oh!

あらたつ先生: 実際、インドのカレーはここで人気があります！
Actually, Indian curry is popular here!

ナサニエル先生: 一度もインドのカレーが食べたことないんです。味比べができません。笑
I’ve never tried Indian curry before. I cannot attest to that. Haha 

あらたつ先生: そうなんですか？フィリピンではインドカレーを食べる習慣がないんですか？
Yeah? Don’t you have the custom of eating Indian curry in the Philippines?

ナサニエル先生: いくつかの地域ではあるかもしれません。特にインドの方々がいる街では。僕の街ではインド人を見たことがないです。
There might be in some places. Especially those cities with Indian communities. I’ve never seen any Indian nationals in our city. 

あらたつ先生: 興味深いです。フィリピンの方々はカレーを食べる習慣はありますか？
That’s interesting. Do people in the Philippines have the habit of eating curry?

ナサニエル先生: あまりないですね。僕が知ってる限りですが。
Not really. As far as I know, people here are not into curry. 

あらたつ先生: フィリピンの人はカレーは食べたことはありますか？
Have people in the Philippines eaten curry before?

ナサニエル先生: あります。ある人もいます。それぞれのオリジナルのカレーがあると思います。
Yes. Some people have. I bet some places have their own version of curry. 

あらたつ先生: なるほど！
I see!

ナサニエル先生: 日本人はそんなにカレーが好きなんですか？
Do Japanese people love curry that much?

あらたつ先生: はい！
Yes, we do!

ナサニエル先生: そうなんですね！
Wow!

あらたつ先生: カレーはラーメンと同じくらい人気があると思います！
Eating curry is as popular as ramen, I think!

ナサニエル先生: えー！！マジですか！？
What?!? For real?

あらたつ先生: はい！
Yes!!!!!!

ナサニエル先生: それはすごいですね！
That’s something. 

あらたつ先生: 学校では、カレーの日は生徒はワクワクしています（笑）
In school, the day when the curry is served excites many students!Haha

ナサニエル先生: 学校でも出るんですね！
It is also served in schools.

あらたつ先生: はい！
Yes!

ナサニエル先生: 日本で出されるカレーはインドのカレーのような味がしますか？
Is the curry served in Japan taste like the Indian curry? 

あらたつ先生: はっきりと説明はできないですが、違うイメージがあります！笑
I can not explain the difference clearly, but I have a different image! Haha

ナサニエル先生: 僕はカレーは食べたことありますが、フィリピンのカレーですね。
I’ve eaten curry, but it’s Filipino curry. 

あらたつ先生: なるほど！
I see!

ナサニエル先生: それしか食べたことがないから他のアジアのカレーと比較ができないです。
I cannot compare it with other Asian curries because that’s the only curry I’ve tasted yet.

□ どの料理がお勧め？

あらたつ先生: なるほど！気にしないで下さい。シーバマハルでチーズナンを食べました。
Okay! Don’t worry. I understand. I ate cheese nan at Shiva Mahal!

ナサニエル先生: チーズナンって何ですか？（ギャグじゃないよ）
Tell me what cheese nan is. 

あらたつ先生: 初めてチーズナンを食べました！初めて食べたときは感動しました！普通はナンにチーズは入ってません。
It was my very first time eating cheese nan! When I ate it the first time, I was moved! Usually, nan doesn’t have cheese!

ナサニエル先生: いいですね、チーズナンって読むべきでないですね。ナンはパンですよね？
Wow! It shouldn’t be called cheese nan then. Naan is bread right?

あらたつ先生: はいそうです！
Yes, it is!

ナサニエル先生: 東洋のパンに似てますね。東洋では「フラットブレッド」というかと思います。
It is somehow similar to Middle Eastern bread. I think it is called flatbread in some Middle Eastern countries. 

あらたつ先生: そうなんですか？知りませんでした！
Really? I was not sure about it!

ナサニエル先生: なぜ感動したんですか？
Why were you moved? 

あらたつ先生: カレーとチーズの味が口の中に一瞬で広がりました！
The flavor of the curry and cheese immediately spreads throughout my mouth. 

ナサニエル先生: 食欲をそそります！
That’s a mouthwatering experience.

あらたつ先生: 本当においしいです！
It was really tasty!

ナサニエル先生: イメージしかできません！笑
I can only imagine. Hahaha!

あらたつ先生: 沖縄県では、カレーを食べるのは特に女性に人気があるように感じます。なので、日本人とのデートでは、カレー屋さんに行くのはどうですか？笑
In Okinawa, eating curry seems to be popular too especially for women. So if you go on a date with Japanese women, how about going to curry restaurants? Haha!

ナサニエル先生: 笑　友達に伝えておきます。沖縄ではカレーはいくらですか？
Hahaha! I will tell my friends. How much is one serving of curry in Okinawa?

あらたつ先生: だいたい1,000円です！
It is about 1,000 yen!

ナサニエル先生: それは安いんですか？安いと思っていますか？
Is it cheap? Is it considered cheap for one serving?

あらたつ先生: えーと
Hmmmm.

ナサニエル先生: 笑
Hehehe.

あらたつ先生: どちらともいえません（笑）
Yes and no! Haha

ナサニエル先生: まあまあなんですね。
Oh my! It’s like so-so.

あらたつ先生: フィリピンでは、デートのときはどこに行きますか？単なる興味です。笑
In the Philippines, where do you go for a date? I was just curious. Haha 

ナサニエル先生: 笑　普通はビーチのそばの公園に行きますね。
Hahaha! People usually go to the public park by the beach. Or watch movies.

あらたつ先生: なるほど！
I see! 

ナサニエル先生: 屋台も十分にありますね。だけどパンデミック中は、多くの人はバーチャルデートです。
Street food is enough. But in the midst of the pandemic, most people date virtually.

あらたつ先生: へー！友達と外出するときはどうですか？
I see! How about going out with your friends?

ナサニエル先生: 僕らは、新しくオープンしたレストランに行きます。もしくはコーヒーのお店。友達の多くがコーヒーを愛してます。コーヒーとピザもしくはチーズケーキを普通食べますね。
We go to a newly opened restaurant. Or a coffee shop.  Most of my friends are coffee lovers. We usually have coffee and pizza or cheesecakes. 

あらたつ先生: ピザを食べるときにコーヒー飲むんですか？
Do you drink coffee when you eat pizza???

ナサニエル先生: 僕はコーヒーは飲まないです。友達が飲みます。コーヒーとピザはよく合うと思います。
I don’t drink coffee. My friends do. Coffee and pizza go well, I think. 

あらたつ先生: そうなんですか？僕はピザとコーヒーは飲まないです（笑）多くの日本人にあてはまると思います。
Really? I do not drink coffee when I eat pizza! Hahaha It is true for many Japanese.

ナサニエル先生: ひとそれぞれかと思います。
It depends on one’s preference, I guess. 

あらたつ先生: ですよね。
I know what you mean! 

ナサニエル先生: はい、コーヒー好きな友達と行くときは、スムージーやフルーツジュースを頼みます。
Right. Whenever I go with my coffee lover friends, I order smoothies or fruit juice. 

あらたつ先生: 僕もです。
Me, too! Haha
