今回は town と city の違いをネイティブに聞いてみました！

【Question】
Is there a difference between these two options?🤔 Thank you! town vs city


1) I have lived in this town for three years.

2) I have lived in this city for three years.

In American English, “town” implies a smaller population while “city” implies a larger population.

Technically, in the US, a “city” has a government large enough to operate independently while a “town” relies on its county (like a prefecture) to assist it with matters.

You may use both interchangeably without confusing American English speakers. :)
