松山英樹が日本男子初のマスターズ制覇！

ゴルフの松山英樹選手、ついにやりましたね！日本男子初のゴルフのメジャー大会優勝、しかもマスターズ制覇とは！

普段、ゴルフ観戦をほとんどせず、ルールもわかっていない私でも昨晩はテレビにチャンネルを合わせ、目が釘付けでした。

さすがに徹夜は無理で歴史的瞬間を見逃しましたが、朝起きて結果を知ったときは心底ほっとしました。

願わくば、テニスの錦織圭選手も後に続いてほしいものです。四大大会の優勝、道は険しいけどまだ期待しています。

Wow, Hideki Matsuyama made it this time!  He became the first Japanese man to win a major championship.

I'm not a golf fan and don't understand its basic rules, but turned on the TV anyway to witness the historic moment late last night.

Unfortunately, I missed the historic moment as I couldn't pull an all-nighter.  I should've slept early and got up early.

At any rate, I'm relieved to see the result this morning and really happy for him.  I want to congratulate him from the bottom of my heart!

Several yeas ago, some experts compared him with tennis star Kei Nishikori as both of them seemed to have a potential of winning a major title.

I have to admit that Kei 's chance of seizing a Grand Slam is getting slim considering his age. He turned 31 last December.

Also, there are too many formidable rivals including legends called "the Big three", Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, and a bunch of much younger players.

Still, I hope Hideki's feat will encourage Kei to follow suit!
