Hong Kong activist Agnes Chow to be freed from prison

HONG KONG – Hong Kong activist Agnes Chow will be freed from prison on Saturday after serving time for inciting an unauthorized protest in 2019, local media Ming Pao Daily reported Friday.
香港 - 香港の活動家であるアグネス・チョウが、2019年に無許可の抗議活動を扇動した罪で服役し、土曜日に釈放されると、地元メディア「Ming Pao Daily」が金曜日に報じた。
Chow, 24, was convicted in December along with fellow activists Joshua Wong and Ivan Lam by a court for inciting or taking part in the June 21, 2019, event in which mostly young protesters besieged the city’s police headquarters.
チャウ（24歳）は12月、仲間の活動家ジョシュア・ウォン、イヴァン・ラムとともに、2019年6月21日に若者を中心とした抗議者たちが市の警察本部を包囲したイベントを扇動し、参加した罪で裁判所から有罪判決を受けた。
Chow, who was imprisoned for the first time over her activism, was sentenced to 10 months in prison. Her sentence was apparently shortened due to good behavior.
活動を理由に初めて投獄されたチャウは、懲役10ヶ月の判決を受けました。善行により刑期が短縮されたようだ。
“Prison time has taken a toll on my mental and physical condition,” she was quoted as saying in a Feb. 16 post on her Facebook page. “Hopefully (I can) take a break and rest for my health after being released in June.”
2月16日、彼女のFacebookページに掲載されたコメントによると、「刑務所での生活は、私の精神的、肉体的なコンディションに大きな影響を与えました。」と投稿された。「6月に釈放された後は、健康のために一息ついて休めるといいのですが」と主張した。

The protest occurred amid an intensifying anti-government movement that was spurred by a surge of opposition to the Hong Kong government’s now-withdrawn plan to allow suspects to be sent to mainland China for trial.
今回の抗議活動は、容疑者を中国本土に移送して裁判を行うことを認める香港政府の計画が撤回されたことで、反政府運動が活発化する中で行われた。

It is ridiculous to hear that Agnes Chow Ting, a well-known organizer of the violence and chaos that victimized Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for almost a year since June 2019, was hailed as "Mulan" by some of her supporters.
2019年6月から約1年間、香港特別行政区を犠牲にした暴力と混乱の有名な主催者であるアグネス・チョウ・ティンが、一部の支持者から「ムーラン」と称されているのはおかしく感じる。
Chow has not shown a single virtue comparable with that great heroine in Chinese legendary history. When her homeland was under siege from outside enemies, Mulan stood up to fight them, the greatest sign of loyalty.
チャウは、中国の伝説的な歴史の中で、その偉大なヒロインに匹敵する美徳を一つも示していない。祖国が外敵に包囲されたとき、ムーランは立ち上がって外敵と戦い、それこそ最大の忠誠の証である。
When her father was too old to serve in the battlefield, Mulan went instead, showing her filial piety. Yet Chow had done exactly the opposite. As early as 2017, in a public speech in Japan, she claimed that it was difficult for her to admit her identity as a Chinese. Later she openly called for foreign "help", or intervention, in Hong Kong affairs. It is not excessive to say she betrayed her nation and the place of her birth.
父が年老いて戦場に出られなくなったとき、ムーランは代わりに行って親孝行をした。しかし、チャウはまったく逆のことをしていた。早くも2017年には、日本でのスピーチで、中国人としてのアイデンティティを認めるのは難しいと主張しした。その後、彼女は公然と外国の「助け」、つまり香港の問題への介入を求めた。彼女は自分の国と生まれた場所を裏切ったと言っても過言ではない。
In the violence that swept through Hong Kong in 2019, thousands of rioters, some misguided by Chow's speeches, damaged public utilities, attacked residents on their way to the office, and destroyed the jobs of their parents. These carriers of violence betrayed their fathers' generation under the guidance of Chow, which is contrary to Mulan.
2019年に香港を襲った暴力事件では、チャウの演説に惑わされた数千人の暴徒たちが、公共施設を破損したり、出勤途中の住民を襲ったり、親の仕事を破壊したりした。暴力の担い手たちは、チャウの指導の下、父親の世代を裏切ったのであり、それはムーランと正反対だ。
