What do we fight with? 07/01/2024

I always wonder, "What does it mean to be a minority?" The answer is simple: we have to fight. Because we fight, people around us expect things from us and also feel wary of us. Saying "Change the times!" might sound exaggerated to us Japanese, but to change them, we must fight.
So, why do we fight? To become the majority. Yes, to win!

On Friday, June 28th, the movie "Look Back" was released.
It's a film adaptation of a one-shot comic by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man. The story is based on real events, where the confident young artist Fujino meets the reclusive, truant Kyomoto, and they delve into the world of manga creation. This film doesn't feature chainsaws or even a single corpse. However, because it's a realistic story, its cruelty stands out even more. This gap is intriguing. The sadness pierces deeply and doesn't easily go away. Who could come up with such an ending? It feels like this movie has no clear answer. Is it like a subjunctive mood in English grammar?

「マイノリティってなんだよ？」っていつも思う。
答えは１つ、闘うしかない。
闘うから、まわりから期待もされるし、警戒もされる。
「時代を変えろ！」って僕たち日本人には、オーバーないい方かもしれないけど変えるには闘うしかない。
では何のために闘うのか？って「マジョリティ」になるため、そうだ勝ち取れ！
 
6月28日（金）に映画「ルックバック」が公開になった。
チェーンソーマンの原作者、藤本タツキ氏の読み切りコミックの映画化。
自分の才能に自信たっぷりの小学生藤野と、不登校で引きこもりの京本が出会い、漫画制作に打ち込んでいくリアルベースのストーリー。
この映画には頭からチェンソーは出てこないし、死体のひとつも転がらない。
しかし、現実的な話だからこそ、そこに残酷さが際立つってくる。
このギャップが面白い。
悲しみがグサっと刺さってなかなか抜けない。こんなエンディングが存在するとは、誰が思いつくのか？この映画に答えはないように思う。
英語の単元でいう、仮定法なのか？
