《三つの聲》は、2016年にロワイヨモン作曲講習会 “Voix nouvelles”（パリ
／フランス）のために作曲し、その最終プレゼンテーションで、Talea Ensembleにより初演されました。
聲明や神楽、民族芸能等の取材を重ね、邦楽や能楽にたずさわる方々と協働して創作を続けるなかで、日本の音楽に特有のものとは何だろうかと考えてみると、それは、息のつめひらきによる呼吸のダイナミズムと、それに伴う時間感覚ではないかと思います。辺りの空気を一瞬凝結させ、そしてくつろげる。演奏するひとだけでなく、聴くひとも共にそれを呼吸する。そのような、エネルギーの緊張のグラデーションから成る音楽を、西洋音楽らしい室内楽の編成で表現できないだろうかと試みました。
Composer's note
For several years, I have been researching and studying traditional Japanese thought and culture and working to collaborate with numerous artists of traditional Japanese art forms. I have been tracing the history of Japanese music, Japanese musical instruments, and Japan as far back as possible to their origins in order to confirm the position of my own existence through sound.
In this work, Three Voices for string trio, I tried to figure out two ideas I learned through those experiences. One is to express the nature of voice, which can be seen in traditional Japanese chanting styles with instruments. In traditional Japanese chanting styles such as Utai-mono and Katari-mono, performers connect single words with subtle details with much quality information, gestures, and timbres. Not singing out, but singing which resonates inside the body, that is, music as a kind of prayer. Another is how I can represent the whole structure by the perception of time, which can be seen in Japanese ceremonial styles. When I take part in a Buddhist ceremony, I always feel that it has my inner time perception adjust. This is because Japanese ceremonial styles have their own time structure, away from a realistic time of today’s Japanese life.
Three Voices was written for the program Voix Nouvelles of the Royaumont foundation in 2016 and was first performed by Talea Ensemble.
