マウンティングマウンテン。

　もう季節は秋にも関わらずまだまだ暑い日が続きますが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。私は相変わらず半袖オンリーで過ごしています。

　さて、みなさんは「モモウメ」（https://momo-and-ume.com/）というアニメをご存知でしょうか。今度実写版が作られたということで話題になっています。オフィスで繰り広げられるドラマを少し皮肉を入れて面白おかしく紹介してくれるので、思わずニヤニヤしながらついつい見てしまうアニメの１つです。

　そのモモウメで「マウンティングマウンテン」という話があります。詳しくはぜひ動画を見てほしいのですが、簡単に言えばOLがマウントの取り合いをするという内容です。それを見てモモちゃんが「そのランチはうまいかね。」というのが何ともシュールでとても気にいっています。

　少し前振りが長くなりましたが、なぜ「マウンティングマウンテン」の話をしたかというと、学生に対してマウントを取りたがる大人がいて思わず「そのランチはうまいかね。」と言いたくなってしまうことがあったからです。

　先日の授業でとあるゲストがお話いただき、学生とのやり取りをSNSにあげていました。記事には学生から「やりたいことが見つからないで見つけるにはどうしたらいいですか？」という質問を受けてそれに答えたという内容でした。そのゲストは真摯に「私もすぐに見つかったわけではなく、徐々に積み重ねて今やりたいことが少し見えてきたよ。」と答えていただいて、学生もそれで少し安堵したような表情をしていました。

　ところが、その記事に対するコメントがマウントの嵐だったので思わず吐き気を催してしまいました。「やりたいことが見つかる前にまずは行動でしょう。」「そんなこと人に聞く前に自分で探せよ。」「やりたくないことを決めてそれをやめることから始めたらいいのでは。」などなどです。SNS上では人はマウントを取りたがるのか、リアルでマウントが取れないからか理由はわかりませんが、そんなコメントを載せることで何を目指しているのか私にはまったく理解ができません。（というよりは理解したくないというのが本音ですが。）

　質問した学生は悩みながらも勇気を振る絞ってゲストに質問したと思います。（実際に私はその現場にいますので。）その学生に対してまずは共感してくださったゲストの回答は、私から見てとてもいいやりとりだったと思います。そんな現場の雰囲気も知らず、無責任にマウントを取りたがる大人たちが若者を殺しているということにいい加減に気づいてほしいです。

　少し過激な発言になりましたが、私も若いころは「マウンティングマウンテン」のトップクライマーを目指していた時期がありました。（先輩OLのウメさんの発言を一部引用）私もその頂上に立ちましたが、その時の心境はウメさんと同じでした。なので、その頃から私はSNSで発信することをほとんど辞めました。結局SNSで発信する内容のほとんどが自己満足かもしくは、他人の承認を得るためだと気づいたからです。

　これから大学教員になる人には、学生にマウントを取るのではなく、一緒に山を登って楽しめる気持ちが持てる人になってほしいと思います。そして、マウントを取る大人たちから自分の身を守る術を若者に伝授してあげてください。

Mounting Mountain.

 It's already autumn, but we still have hot days. How are you doing? I still wear only short sleeves.

Well, do you know the anime called Momo and Ume (https://momo-and-ume.com/)? It's been in the news that a live-action version was made. It introduces a drama unfolding in the office with a little sarcasm, so it is one of the anime that you watch without thinking while grinning.

 There is a story called "Mountain Mountain" with Momo and Ume. I'd like you to watch the video for details, but to put it simply, it's about an OL fighting for a mount. Seeing it, Momo says "How do you like your lunch?" and I really like it because it's surreal.

 The reason why I talked about Mount Mountain was that there were adults who wanted to get a mount, and I wanted to say, "How do you like your lunch?"

 In the class the other day, a guest told me about the communication with students on SNS. In the article, the student asked me, "How can I find what I want to do without finding it?" and I answered. The guest sincerely replied, "I didn't find it right away, but I gradually got to know what I want to do." and the students looked a little relieved.

 However, the comments to the article were part of the mount storm, which made me nauseous. "Before you find what you want to do, you should act first." "Look for it yourself before you ask someone." "Why don't you start by deciding what you don't want to do and then quitting?" and so on. I don't know why people want to mount on social media, or because they can't mount in real life, but I have no idea what they are aiming for by posting such comments. (Actually, I don't want to understand it.)

 I think the student who asked the question asked the guest a question with courage although he was worried. (I'm actually there.) From my point of view, the answer from the guest who first sympathized with the student was a very good exchange. I want them to realize that adults who want to mount irresponsibly and don't know the atmosphere on the scene are killing young people.

 When I was young, I was aiming to be a top climber at Mount Mountain. (A quote from Ume-san, a senior office worker) I was on top of that, but I felt the same way as Ume-san did then. So, since then I have mostly stopped sending messages on SNS. In the end, I realized that most of the content I send on SNS is for self-satisfaction or to get approval from others.

 For those who are going to become university teachers, I want students to be able to enjoy climbing mountains together instead of getting mounts. Then, teach young people how to protect themselves from adults who take a mount.
